Alethea's POV:

I leaned against the rough, cold wall, my breaths coming in ragged gasps. My friends and I were completely exhausted, having been sprinting from the relentless monsters. Blood trickled from the gash on my side smeared down my arm, and oozed from my scraped knees, leaving me lightheaded and weak.

Regret gnawed at me as I realized we had chosen a pathway that led to a dead end, the wall behind me barring any further progress.

"The PHA can teleport us through the rock," Silas explained, holding up the device. "But it only lasts for twenty seconds."

"And what happens if we don't find an opening before time runs out?" Stella asked, her eyebrows furrowing in concern.

"Basically, we'd be stuck inside the wall for all eternity," Silas replied nonchalantly, earning him incredulous looks from the rest of us.

Stella shook her head vehemently. "No way am I ending up as some Underrealm wallflower, not going to happen!"

"What if we found a spot where we knew for sure there was a tunnel on the other side?" I suggested, turning to Silas.

"We'd have to be pretty certain," Silas retorted, his eyes locking onto mine.

I turned to Aisha, our best bet for knowing if there was a tunnel nearby. "You know these mountains the best. Is there another tunnel nearby?"

"I'm not sure," Aisha frowned, shaking her head. "But I think if we went down to the bottom of this chasm, we'd be on the other side of Shadowhaunt's main chamber."

"Then let's get down there," Sky spoke up for the first time. "Are you guys ready to go?"

Aisha clenched her fists, determination hardening her features. "Hopefully, this will be the last time."

"Personally, I can't wait," Stella added with a sarcastic smile. "Nothing says good times like a sunless, monster-ridden cavern."

Despite our dire situation, I couldn't help but smile at Stella's dry humor. "Good thing you got over your fear."

"Honestly!" Stella grinned, nudging me playfully. But when she glanced down the mountain, her expression turned serious. I followed her gaze and felt a shiver at how steep it was.

"Stella, maybe you should stay here. Your powers seem to drain faster," Sky suggested, concern etched on his face.

Stella huffed. "Hello? We've got Pixies to save, and the sooner we do that, the sooner I can stop that pasty cave Queen from marrying my boyfriend."

"So, how do we get down?" I asked, ignoring Stella's comment about the Queen.

"Hang on," Aisha said, picking up a piece of driftwood with a grin. "I think I found a faster way to get down there."
