Alethea's POV:

We stood in silence at Alfea's gates, eyes fixed on the desolate wasteland stretching before us. Once, these woods had been vibrant and full of life, teeming with shades of emerald green, the sounds of birds, and the rustling of leaves in the wind. Now, they lay charred and ruined, barren remnants of the fierce battle that had taken place between Miss Faragonda and Valtor. The landscape's haunting desolation struck a deep chord of sadness in my chest, and the absence of our Headmistress cast a heavy shadow over us all, amplifying the eerie silence around us.

I took a deep breath, trying to project a calm confidence, and addressed the group. "Alright, girls," I began, my voice steady though my heart was pounding. "Miss Faragonda and Valtor were last seen going that way." I pointed toward the heart of the devastated forest, where blackened branches and smoldering ashes now stood in place of the once-lush greenery.

"Gloomy Wood Forest is huge," Flora noted, her usual soft voice subdued by the gravity of the situation. "We should spread out to cover as much ground as possible."

"Don't worry!" Tune piped up, proudly adjusting her tiny police hat, while the other Pixies—each dressed in little detective trench coats—nodded in determined agreement. Their expressions were a heartening sight amid the desolation.

"We're here to help you look!" Nixie added with a bright, optimistic smile, a spark of light in the somber scene.

"The Pixie Detectives are on the case!" Chatta chimed in, crossing her arms with a confident nod.

After forming a plan, we divided into teams to cover more ground in the sprawling forest. Stella, Aisha, Musa, and I—along with our bonded Pixies—took one path, while Bloom, Flora, and Tecna, who had yet to earn their Enchantix, searched another section with the remaining Pixies. We flew in near silence, broken only by the soft crunch of dead leaves beneath us, the only remnants of the life that had once filled these woods.

"There!" Musa suddenly cried, pointing toward an area where the destruction was especially severe. The others and I gathered quickly, each of us tense and alert as we looked in the direction she indicated.

Lockette's tiny voice broke the silence, filled with an uncharacteristic solemnity. "Valtor and Miss Faragonda were both here..." she said softly, a heaviness in her words that made the situation feel even more real.

"It must have been an unbelievable battle," Bloom murmured, her face a mixture of awe and sorrow. She glanced down at Lockette. "Can you sense anything about Miss Faragonda?"

Lockette shook her head, looking pale and unsteady. "I... I feel strange..."

Digit hovered beside her, a concerned frown on her face. "Valtor's dark magic still lingers here," she explained, her gaze worriedly fixed on Lockette. "The residual energy is affecting her..."
