Alethea's POV:
As we rematerialized in Alfea's courtyard, a sense of relief swept over me—at least until I noticed the crowd of students gathering around us, their eyes full of curiosity and concern. I barely had a moment to collect myself before Miss Griselda stepped out from the crowd, her expression as stern as ever, but with an extra edge that sent a shiver down my spine.
"It's about time you got back," she said, arms crossed tightly, her gaze unforgiving. "You have a lot of explaining to do for your multiple-day unauthorized absence from campus."
I felt a pang of guilt but couldn't afford to dwell on it. "Miss Griselda, please," I said softly, my voice pleading. "We can explain everything later—right now, Aisha really needs your help."
"Aisha needs urgent care!" Flora's voice trembled as she spoke, her concern written all over her face.
"She's... she's blind," Bloom added quietly, gesturing toward Aisha. Aisha opened her eyes, revealing the unnerving milky white stare that left everyone silent.
"Valtor took her sight," Bloom explained further, her tone heavy. Miss Griselda's face softened, if only for a moment, and she gave a slight nod before leading us through the corridors in silence. She didn't stop until we reached Miss Faragonda's office, where Stella rushed in, her face pale and filled with worry.
Without a word, she threw her arms around me. "I was so worried," she whispered, squeezing me tight. I hugged her back, giving her a reassuring pat.
"Stella," Miss Faragonda's calm voice interrupted gently, and we let go, stepping apart. "You arrived just in time. And you as well, Alethea—watch closely; this is something you'll need to understand."
Stella's gaze darted to Aisha, her brow furrowing with concern. "What happened to her?" she whispered.
"Something terrible but extraordinary," Miss Faragonda began, holding up a bottle of Fairy Dust. It glimmered with a light that felt familiar. "Valtor cast a dark spell that took Aisha's sight, but in her courage, she unlocked her Enchantix. This final Fairy form gives her the power to break the spell."
Miss Faragonda turned to me, her gaze warm. "You, too, hold this power, Alethea."
"So...I could have already broken the dark spell on Aisha?" I said, my voice tinged with disappointment as realization set in. "I could have even broken the spell on the mermaids, but..."
"But you didn't know. There's no point in blaming yourself for something you couldn't possibly have anticipated," Faragonda reminded me gently. I exhaled, feeling the weight lift slightly. "The healing energy resides within the Fairy Dust of your new wings. Concentrate hard, and you'll be able to release it."
