Alethea's POV:
I was worried.
Really worried.
Hence the reason I was quietly pacing around the lounge room while my friends followed my movements at two in the morning. My mind couldn't stop spinning with thoughts about the strange girl now lying in the infirmary.
"Try to relax, Alethea..." Bloom finally sighed, standing up and gently placing her hands on my shoulders to halt my restless pacing.
"She's been asleep for four days," I said softly, frowning as I crossed my arms over my chest. "If she's the girl the psychic pixie saw in her vision, then she's been through something terrible."
"But at least she's safe now, right?" Flora pointed out, her voice a mix of hope and uncertainty. None of us were truly sure; the look on the girl's face when we found her was hauntingly familiar.
She had been running from something—or someone.
"I don't know," Bloom murmured, her eyebrows knitting together in concern. "If something's after her, it might come here."
"That's why we have to stay on guard," Musa added, her expression mirroring the sense of dread that settled in my stomach.
I pressed my lips together, worry etched across my face. "We have no idea what she's been through..."
"She could be suffering from shopping exhaustion," Stella suggested with her usual flair for the dramatic.
I managed a small, tired smile. "Only you suffer from that, Stella."
Stella rolled her eyes and huffed, clearly offended. "I've never slept for four days after shopping."
"That's right, you slept for a week," Tecna quipped, and despite my worry, I couldn't help but let out a soft giggle.
"Will you check on her again, Tecna?" Bloom asked gently, and Tecna sighed, checking her phone before shaking her head.
"Nothing has changed," she informed.
"Look how late it is. We should really get some sleep," Flora said, glancing at the clock. "Tomorrow is the first day of classes."
"You mean today," Tecna corrected immediately. "It's two in the morning."
Stella scoffed. "Whatever, it'll just be a bunch of roll-taking and introductions."
"Stella, we're sophomores now," I pointed out softly, raising an eyebrow. "They won't do that."
"That just means twice as many dances with Red Fountain!" Stella beamed, and I was too tired to comment.
Yawning, I started making my way to the bedroom I shared with Stella, who followed closely behind. "Goodnight," I murmured.
