Alethea's POV:

I smiled as the wind blew through my locks, feeling content as I stood on the grounds of the familiar school of Alfea, this time as a sophomore. The school looked the same, yet everything felt different. The year before had been a whirlwind of events, I remembered the big battle vividly, the one with the Trix and the Army of Decay. It had been terrifying, but I had learned a lot.

Last year, we learned how to master our own source of power and learn many basic spells that we could use in our daily lives as well as spells cast spontaneously and on instinct.

But that wasn't the only thing I learned.

The battle changed me. It was a turning point, pushing me to unlock new depths of my powers. After that, my abilities grew exponentially. I was no longer the timid freshman who was scared to fight; I was stronger, more confident, and ready to face whatever laid ahead.

Yet, beneath that confidence, a deep sadness lingered. Learning that I had the Water Dragon's power inside of me was hard. The immense power felt both exhilarating and daunting, I had to carry that burden. The Water Dragon's energy coursed through me, giving me strength, but also reminding me of the great responsibility I now bore.

The most painful part was discovering that my home planet had been destroyed. The news had hit me like a tidal wave, leaving me feeling adrift in a sea of sorrow. Everything was gone.

As I stood there, my thoughts were interrupted by a familiar voice in my mind. "You are stronger than you think, Alethea. The past may be painful, but it is part of what makes you who you are." It was Ghidorah, communicating with me... in my head. I had discovered over the summer break that the Dragon could speak to me this way, offering guidance and support whenever I needed it. It was comforting, knowing that I wasn't alone.

I was snapped out of my thoughts when I noticed a blob of red and purple in the distance. If it was possible, my smile got even bigger at the sight of them. "Bloom! Tecna!" I called out and hurried over to them. They stopped talking and turned to me. Bloom's face lit up, and she tackled me in a hug.

"Alethea!" Bloom beamed as I hugged her back. "I missed you so much."

I pulled away and gave her a warm smile, then pulled Tecna into a hug next. "I missed both of you. Can't believe we're officially sophomores."

"What do you predict, Tecna?" Bloom asked, tilting her head in wonder while excitement shone in her eyes.

As we pulled away, Tecna checked her phone. "A hundred percent chance of fun."

"If we ignore how we literally have to study our ass off this year, I think I agree." I nudged Bloom, who couldn't help but smile once more.

"Can we just ignore the studying?" Bloom whined, but then her eyes lit up when she looked at something behind me. "That's Musa."
