Alethea's POV:
I skimmed through the book, my eyes quickly scanning the pages in search of any mention of the Ring of Solaria. But when I didn't find anything useful, I sighed in defeat, setting it down with the stack of other books that had been deemed useless. Grabbing another volume, I flipped through the pages, but then I froze. An image caught my eye—a familiar cyan blue ring with a sun-shaped circle etched into it.
I laid the book flat on the library table at Alfea, my finger tracing the image on the page. "Here it is."
"Well, share the 4.1.1, girl," Musa urged, her eyes sparkling with curiosity.
"Okay, this is what I know so far," I began, reading aloud from the text beneath the image. "The ring is incredibly powerful because it was directly created from starlight, the purest source of magic in the universe." I paused for a moment, the words sinking in. "But what's really interesting is that some say the ring is special because it's made from the same light that created the legendary creatures known as 'the Great Dragons.'"
"Did you know about this, Alethea, Stella?" Bloom asked, her voice tinged with surprise as she tilted her head toward us.
"Yeah!" We both nodded, and Stella added, "I know all about the starlight stuff, but the other part makes me think I should have it reappraised."
"Think this could be why the Witches wanted your ring?" Bloom asked, her brow furrowed in concern. "It may have hidden power."
"True," I murmured, mulling over her words. My mind quickly began piecing things together. "The Witches are greedy for power, so it wouldn't surprise me if they were after that kind of strength."
"True..." Stella frowned, her voice tinged with worry. "I'm not surprised either, but personally... I think my ring isn't that special. Why would my parents give it to me if it could endanger me?"
I nodded in agreement, her concern echoing my own thoughts. They wanted the ring because it contained a piece of the Dragon Flame, but what did the Water Dragon have to do with all of this? If the Dragon Flame was so well-known, why had the Water Dragon kept itself hidden from the magical world? My head throbbed as more questions arose. "That's right."
"In that case, we better go get it back," Flora pointed out, her tone laced with worry that the ring might indeed contain the power of the Dragons.
"We have to get it back anyway!" Stella whined, wrapping her arms around me for comfort. I patted her back, trying to soothe her, but a smile tugged at my lips as I looked at her. "I'm so useless without it."
"True to that," Musa agreed, her eyes glinting with amusement. "In the magical defense class, she got beaten by a Keekbug."
Stella pouted, clearly not appreciating the teasing. "I was just... distracted."
