"Ding ding ding—"
Damien sat at the workbench, starting to carve earnestly.
His hands were long and beautiful, deftly using tools to polish the gems to a stunning luster.
Olivia, however, stared at the tracking device, and a disturbing suspicion arose in her heart.
Earlier, Damien had asked her to leave a hollow space in the pendant's design. At the time, she thought he was offering design advice, and since she wanted to go along with everything he said, she agreed.
But now she realized how naive she had been!
This man, trusting her not to run away, trusting that she liked him? How could that be possible!
He only believed in keeping his prey firmly locked in his palm!
Sure enough, after finishing the polishing, Damien, right in front of Olivia, used tweezers to pick up the miniature tracking device and carefully placed it in the hollow space of the pendant before setting the gem-studded piece into the metal clasp.
He looked up, his deep gaze locking onto Olivia:
"Be good, Liv. Wear it. If I find out you've taken it off, I'll embed it into your bones."
Olivia wanted to cry but could only pretend to be very happy as she put the pendant, now strung with a cord, around her neck.
She even laughed and threw herself into Damien's arms, asking with a mixture of shyness and coyness:
"Dami, from now on, if I want to see you, can you appear by my side anytime I call for you?"
She deliberately didn't say that Damien wanted to see her because she didn't miss any opportunity to show that she liked him.
Sure enough, the probing look in the man's eyes diminished significantly.
He leaned down and kissed Olivia's pendant.
Watching the man suddenly bend down, Olivia's heart felt a subtle sensation.
For some reason, she sensed a reverent quality in Damien's action.
As if he were holding a precious, sincere heart, carefully placing it in front of her.
Her nose suddenly felt a bit sour, and Olivia reached out to hold Damien's arm.
"Dami."
She called him that again, this time with more sincerity than before.
Damien looked down at her, his magnetic and pleasant voice falling: "Hmm?"
Olivia was hooked by that trailing sound, and the various emotions suppressed since her rebirth unexpectedly burst forth, overwhelming her.
Her tears uncontrollably rolled down in a frenzy.
She thought of her son who had been suffocated to death, her sister who had been bullied and ruined, the beautiful eyes Damien had lost in her previous life, and the pain of her own body being torn to pieces...
She had been reborn. Her sister was unharmed, and Damien's eyes were still there. Only her son might not be able to come back in this life.
After all, everything had changed. A year from now, on that day, she probably wouldn't be schemed against and have a relationship with that stranger again.
Her heart ached and felt sad. In Olivia's mind, the image of her son calling her "Mommy" in his babyish voice kept appearing.
Damien didn't know why the girl in front of him had suddenly started crying. Was it because of the tracking device he had given her?
Just as he was feeling displeased, a soft body crashed into his embrace.
Damien's shirt on his chest was soaked, and his chin was tickled by her fluffy hair, but his displeasure gradually gave way to heartache.
He wrapped his arms around Olivia and comforted her somewhat clumsily, "Don't cry, Liv."
Olivia cried her heart out, finally releasing the emotions that had built up over two lifetimes.
Having gotten Damien's shirt covered in tears and snot, Olivia felt a bit embarrassed and quickly took out a tissue to wipe him.
Although the man looked lean, his chest muscles were firm and even. As Olivia touched his pecs through his shirt, she couldn't help but think of their intimate behavior a few hours ago, and her ears started to feel a bit hot.
At this moment, her phone rang. It was Stella Pearson calling.
