Olivia asked, "Lily, during that field trip in my second year of high school, when I fell into the ravine and almost died, was it true that someone saved me?"
Lily nodded. "Yes, that did happen, and it was indeed Evan Nolan who took you to the hospital. However, Uncle and Aunt said he was covered in injuries from rescuing you, but I knew that wasn't true."
Olivia asked, "How did you know?"
Lily explained, "At first, I also believed he went into the ravine to save you, but the day after the incident, I passed by the Nolan house and saw Evan coming out. He was arguing with his brother, who pulled up his sleeve, and his skin was perfectly fine."
"But the day before at the hospital, I clearly saw a big wound there. How could it heal without a scar in just one day? Now I think the wounds must have been makeup!"
Hearing this, Olivia finally understood completely—
The false memories implanted in her mind had been meticulously crafted to trap her!
Her uncle's family wanted her to hand over the Carlson family assets, ensuring their wealth and prosperity.
And Evan Nolan sought support to erase the stigma of being an illegitimate child and become the heir of the Nolan family!
She and Lily had merely been the stepping stones for their rise to power!
Olivia had one more question. "Lily, if you suspected something was wrong, why did you agree to transfer your shares to Uncle?"
Lily looked a bit annoyed. "They said you had become like this because you thought I only cared about the shares. They claimed if I gave them up, you would go back to how you used to be."
Olivia hadn't expected this reason.
For a moment, her heart was filled with mixed emotions.
She reached out to hug Lily, who pretended to resist.
Olivia found it endearing and leaned in to kiss Lily's fair cheeks. "Come on, let me make it up to you with a kiss!"
Lily couldn't break free, so both her cheeks got kissed.
Feeling competitive, she tried to return the kisses.
The sisters ended up playfully wrestling until Lily felt something wet on her face.
She immediately became indignant. "Olivia, did you wipe your spit on my face?"
But looking closer, she saw tears still clinging to Olivia's eyelashes.
Lily stopped immediately and held Olivia's hand. "Sis—"
"I'm fine," Olivia said, hugging her sister.
"It's just that sometimes I feel lost... Ever since I accidentally discovered my memories were altered, I've been fighting against those memories and the emotions tied to them."
Forcing herself not to fear Damien Thorn, not to be influenced by the false 'Evan Nolan' in her memories, not to trust her uncle's family, not to believe any of the deeply ingrained false memories...
Lily hugged Olivia tightly. "Sis, don't be afraid. Anything you're unsure about, I'll tell you! I might not know everything, but together we'll uncover the truth!"
Olivia nodded. "Okay. So, did I really meet Damien Thorn when we were kids? And what happened after that?"
When Lily heard Damien's name, she suddenly remembered something.
"Right, there's something about him you told me when we were kids! Apparently, his disappearance wasn't an accident; he was abandoned in the wild by the Thorn family and taken by wolves! He ended up being raised by a mother wolf!"
"When he was seven, he was brought back to the Thorn family, unable to speak or communicate. For some reason, you insisted on visiting him with Mom for two years. I was too young to remember the details, but after two years, he seemed much more normal, and you stopped visiting."
"After that, you didn't have any contact until last year when he took control of the Thorn family and suddenly started competing with Evan Nolan for you."
