Never before had anyone stood by his side like this.

Even if it might be just an illusion, Damien couldn't suppress the tremor in his heart. Even for this fleeting moment of acceptance, he would gladly give everything.

Damien didn't speak, merely breathing in Olivia's scent deeply.

Olivia felt the slightly gaunt bones beneath the man's broad back and couldn't help but feel a surge of tenderness. Just one sentence had made Damien so emotional; clearly, no one had truly cared for him in all these years.

"Damien, let time prove whether I'm deceiving you or not," Olivia said softly.

She didn't confess outright, knowing the man before her wouldn't easily believe. So, she'd leave it to time. The future stretched long ahead, and Olivia believed that through her efforts, Damien would eventually feel the sincerity of her heart.

Just then, an ill-timed sound broke the silence. Olivia felt slightly embarrassed—good heavens, why was her stomach always so uncooperative?

Damien, clearly aware, quickly released her and gestured for her to eat.

Olivia led Damien to the table. As they sat down, she looked at him and said, "Damien, don't go, and don't close the door."

Then, she spooned some mushroom cream soup into her mouth.

Whether due to hunger or Damien's culinary prowess, Olivia found herself enveloped in a burst of flavour that instantly whetted her appetite.

She looked up, giving a thumbs up as she exclaimed, "Damien, this soup is brilliant! Was it made by the restaurant chef?"

The coldness had mostly dissipated from Damien's demeanour, and his cheeks flushed slightly at her words. "I made it," he replied.

Olivia's eyes widened in surprise. "Damien, you're such a skilled cook? Even better than professional chefs!"

Hearing this, Damien responded directly, "I'll sack the chef today. I'll do the cooking from now on."

Olivia hastily grabbed his arm. "No need, no need! You're already so busy with work. Just cook occasionally! Actually, I can cook too. We could prepare meals together at home on weekends!"

Damien, seeing the sparkle in Olivia's eyes, nodded. "Alright."

Olivia took another taste, finding it utterly delicious. She thought her own culinary skills were quite good, but she never expected Damien's cooking to completely surpass hers!

She took a sip of soup and, eyeing the man's flat stomach, asked, "Damien, you haven't eaten yet, have you?"

Damien, who had been in a foul mood earlier, hadn't even thought about eating. Now that Olivia mentioned it, he realised he was indeed hungry.

Olivia immediately understood. She asked, "You only made enough for me, didn't you?"

Damien nodded. "I'll go make another portion."

Olivia pulled him down to sit. "You eat too. The portion's a bit large; I can't finish it alone."

She pushed the bowl towards Damien.

Damien didn't move. "I'm not hungry."

Olivia looked at him, deliberately putting on a disappointed expression. "So, you're disgusted because I've eaten from it? You think it's unhygienic?"

Damien was taken aback, then, as if to prove something, he immediately took a spoonful of soup.

Olivia, her ploy successful, secretly smiled.
