Brandon narrowed his eyes.
After a moment, he clapped his hands with a mocking smile, "Miss Carlson, you have certainly surprised me!"
Though he smiled, his eyes betrayed a murderous intent.
Olivia Carlson met his gaze, unflinching.
The tension in the room was palpable, like a coiled spring ready to snap.
Brandon's aura of menace grew stronger as he asked coldly, "Miss Carlson, aren't you afraid you might die here today?"
Olivia replied calmly, "If you were going to kill me, you would have done it already instead of wasting time with all this talk."
She understood that if something happened to her, Brandon wouldn't be able to withstand Damien's wrath.
They couldn't kill her discreetly, so they wouldn't dare make a move.
"Miss Carlson, you hide yourself well!" Brandon observed, noticing Olivia seemed different from the rumours.
His murderous intent receded, replaced by a look of interest. "Do you trust Damien so much because you truly love him, or is it because of those two years you spent together when you were kids?"
Olivia was taken aback.
She had spent two years with Damien when she was a child?
Her heart raced as she tried to maintain a calm exterior, asking, "What does that have to do with you?"
But Brandon didn't pursue the topic further. He merely said, "There's another document you might want to take back and read, preferably alone."
With that, he stood up. "I'll take my leave."
Olivia's mind was still reeling from Brandon's mention of those two years.
She had no memory of it.
She needed to ask Lily Carlson immediately.
After Brandon's car left, Olivia quickly hailed a taxi to Lily's university.
Lily had fallen ill during her university entrance exams and ended up at an ordinary university due to her poor performance.
In her previous life, Olivia had urged her to retake the exams, but the sisters often quarrelled over trivial matters back then. Lily, in a fit of defiance, insisted on enrolling. Olivia's first visit had ended badly when she saw gang members fighting at the university gates.
Reflecting on it now, it all seemed like a distant memory.
As Olivia was lost in thought, she felt a poke on her arm.
Turning, she saw Lily standing behind her, quickly averting her gaze when noticed.
Olivia was amused by her sister's sulky demeanour and immediately turned to grab her hand.
Lily pretended to struggle but didn't break free, only to be held tighter by Olivia.
Lily told herself she wasn't giving in but merely lacked the strength to resist.
Olivia led her along the stone path to the school's sports field.
They sat down on an empty section of the stands, and Olivia gazed at the field below. "Lily, my memories have been altered by Evan Nolan and Stella Pearson."
Lily was stunned, her previous nonchalance giving way to shock. "What do you mean?!"
Olivia knew the truth about her rebirth would be too unbelievable, so she only shared what she knew. "They must have tampered with my memories when I was eighteen. Many of my memories from before then are likely false."
"In my memory, we've always been at odds. You played pranks on me from a young age, and as we grew older, we could never get along."
"I've always liked Evan Nolan since I was a child. When I started secondary school, he began to reciprocate my feelings, and by high school, I was madly in love with him."
"We started dating secretly in high school. He was wonderful to me, and I trusted him completely. During a spring outing in my first year at university, I fell into a valley after a sudden rainstorm. He spent a day and a night, injured and all, finding me and bringing me back."
"Uncle and Aunt treated us well, even better than Stella Pearson. When I was hospitalized with a fever, Aunt took care of me tirelessly until I recovered."
Olivia paused and looked at Lily. "This is what I remember."
