George Thorn gazed at Damien, a flicker of complex emotion crossing his face. He sighed softly, his voice low and gentle: "My dear, you need help. I've arranged for a doctor to see you."
Damien's head snapped up, his eyes gleaming with a feral light. He stared at George Thorn as if sizing up prey.
In the next instant, he lunged.
But at that very moment, an enormous metal cage descended from above, trapping him inside.
A servant rushed forward to lock the cage. But he had underestimated Damien's reflexes - in the blink of an eye, Damien had yanked him into the cage!
The cage crashed to the ground with a deafening clang.
Olivia turned at the sound, only to find the bathroom door locked from the outside. Something was thrown in, and a peculiar odour wafted towards her. She quickly turned on the tap, pressing a damp cloth to her nose and mouth.
Outside, the servants who had rushed in secured the cage. Damien thrashed wildly against the bars, but the cage didn't budge.
George Thorn spoke calmly: "Damien, I told you, you're ill. And when one is ill, one sees a doctor. As it happens, I've already called in a specialist."
He turned to a servant: "Show the doctor in."
Soon, a young woman was ushered into the room.
Her features were delicate, and she exuded an air of scholarly refinement, a stark contrast to the flashy socialites. She gave the impression of a woman devoted to academia, unswayed by fame or fortune.
"Good day, Mr Thorn," she smiled, nodding in greeting before turning her gaze to Damien in the cage.
"Is this my patient?" she asked, seemingly prepared.
George nodded: "Yes, this is my grandson Damien. You may have seen him when he was younger."
He added: "Damien, this is Dr Emma Pearson. She's just returned from abroad this morning and came straight here to examine you."
Damien merely glowered at him.
Emma maintained her smile: "The situation appears rather grave. I'll need to get closer to administer an injection."
She began calmly sterilising her medical equipment.
The cage was spacious, not feeling cramped even with two people inside.
Damien, after ramming the cage a few times to no avail, turned his attention to the servant trapped with him.
The man fell to his knees, his face ashen with terror.
In the next moment, Damien pounced on him!
Simultaneously, Emma Pearson approached with her needle.
Just then, the bathroom window burst open. A man nimbly vaulted in, addressing Olivia: "Miss, we must leave at once."
Olivia's heart lifted slightly at the sight of him. "Orion, quick! Save Damien! He's trapped!"
"Our men have surrounded the manor. The master will be fine," Orion said, scooping Olivia up and heading out. "The master's orders were clear: your safety comes first, no matter what!"
Orion moved swiftly, and in moments they were at the manor's entrance.
Olivia saw that Damien's men had indeed surrounded the entire estate, but she couldn't shake her unease.
The earlier crash seemed to have struck her very heart. She didn't know what had happened to Damien, but a sense of foreboding gnawed at her.
"Orion, take me back!" Olivia knew Orion was stubborn and only obeyed Damien, so she had a flash of inspiration and lowered her voice:
