After a moment's hesitation, Damien slowly released the car door handle. He carefully lifted the sleeping Olivia into his arms and strode purposefully towards the villa.

Olivia awoke in his embrace, about to get out of the car herself, when Damien scooped her up. His entire demeanour exuded an aura of cold aloofness as he took long strides towards the villa.

Gazing up at Damien's taut jawline, Olivia mused that her Dami seemed to have returned to his usual self.

Damien gently laid her on the bed, then promptly tucked her in snugly with the duvet, leaving only her head exposed.

Curled up under the covers, Olivia peered at Damien with curious eyes, wondering what he would do next.

Damien turned to lock the door, then headed straight for the bathroom outside.

As soon as he left, Olivia hastily threw off the duvet. She was drenched in sweat and desperately needed a shower herself.

However, as she stood up and took a step, her legs gave way, and she nearly collapsed. Her entire body felt weak, her head light – likely an after-effect of oxygen deprivation.

Touching her swollen lips, Olivia didn't know whether to laugh or cry. She was probably the first person to nearly faint from walking after kissing for too long!

After regaining her composure, she found some clean clothes in the wardrobe and went to shower in the en-suite bathroom. Once she had washed, dried her hair, and changed, she felt considerably refreshed and slightly more energetic.

It was now two in the afternoon, and Olivia was decidedly hungry. She walked to the door, intending to open it, only to find it locked from the outside.

After trying the handle a few times to confirm it was indeed locked, she knocked and called out, "Dami, could you unlock the door, please?"

Outside, Damien stood by the corridor window, gazing out, his silhouette exuding an air of desolation and loneliness. Upon hearing her voice, his body tensed momentarily, as if restraining himself from something, but he remained motionless.

Olivia knocked several times, hearing no response. Assuming Damien was still in the shower, she waited a while longer. When she was certain he must have finished by now, she continued knocking: "Dami, open up! Where are you?"

"Dami, are you still feeling unwell? Come here, let me check on you!"

Outside, Damien's fingers trembled slightly, but he still didn't move. He couldn't let her out; she had seen him at his most terrifying and revolting state. Surely, she would seize the first opportunity to flee!

Inside the room, Olivia couldn't hear a sound, so she eventually fell silent.

Damien had been listening intently, and the sudden quiet made him restless. He quickly turned and approached the bedroom door, pressing his ear against it.

There was no sound from within. Just as his nerves were about to snap, his hand already on the doorknob, he heard Olivia's plaintive voice: "Dami, I'm hungry!"

Damien was taken aback. Only then did he realise it was already afternoon, and they hadn't eaten since breakfast before going to the Thorn house.

His Liv was hungry.

Damien strode swiftly to the kitchen. Having lived alone for years, with no one to cook for him, he was accustomed to preparing his own meals. The kitchen was well-stocked, and Damien moved with practiced ease, quickly preparing a simple yet hearty lunch.

He arranged a tray with a bowl of rich mushroom cream soup, accompanied by a plate of golden, crispy toasted sandwiches filled with ham, cheese, and fresh lettuce leaves. For the main course, he had pan-seared a perfect steak, paired with roasted garlic asparagus. Finally, he added a small bowl of fresh mixed berry salad for dessert.
