Evan Nolan struggled to suppress the bitterness in his heart as he clenched the white gold necklace tightly in his hand, the edges digging painfully into his palm.
Nevertheless, he maintained his usual graceful and composed smile, as if nothing had happened.
However, the whispers around him made him feel like a fool:
"Did you hear that? The Livia jewels were a gift from Mr. Thorn to Miss Carlson. They're talking about that tyrant, Damien Thorn?"
"Of course, I can't believe that brutal man was so generous! In comparison, the necklace Mr. Nolan gave, probably worth just a few thousand, looks so pathetic. If you compare the two, who would choose the latter?"
"Exactly! Even though Damien Thorn is brutal, he's incredibly generous to Miss Carlson. And Evan Nolan, who claims to be her boyfriend and is now the CEO of the Nolan Group, gave her such a stingy gift. How miserly!"
"Hah, Evan Nolan is just a bastard, isn't he? He might be on top today, but who knows? He could fall from grace any day now. His current success is nothing but fleeting glory!"
Hearing these disdainful remarks, Evan nearly exploded with rage, but his shrewd nature forced him to hold it in.
Megan Pearson, however, did not have such self-control.
Her expression darkened as she beckoned, "Olivia, come here."
Olivia walked over.
Megan fixed her gaze on the jewelry around Olivia's neck, her tone filled with barely concealed jealousy and resentment:
"You're still a student, wearing such flashy jewelry is too showy! Your cousin is about to start at Livia, and she can't afford to look so shabby. This jewelry would be perfect for her. You can wear it for now, but after the party, meet me in the changing room and take it all off."
Upon hearing this, Olivia couldn't help but scoff. This was blatant robbery!
Feigning a look of shock and reluctance, she covered her neck with both hands, raising her voice:
"Aunt Megan, this jewelry was a gift from Mr. Thorn. If I give it to Stella, he would definitely be furious. It might even cause trouble for her! I'm really just worring about Stella..."
Everyone present had been watching this unfold and naturally overheard Olivia's words.
Instantly, many could no longer hold back their disdainful gaze towards Megan.
What an ugly scene, she couldn't even wait two hours before trying to snatch the jewels! At least wait until after the party!
Realizing that Megan had overstepped, Mason Pearson cleared his throat:
"Dear, we invited everyone here for a wine tasting today. Why don't you go make the arrangements?"
Megan, realizing her mistake, albeit unwillingly, nodded and went to carry out her duties.
As various premium wines were served and the tasting commenced, the previous atmosphere seemed to resume.
Then, when Stella made her grand entrance to perform on the piano, everyone's admiring gaze turned towards her once more.
After all, even though Olivia had received Galaxian, that was merely bought with Damien Thorn's wealth.
But Stella had secured a position at Livia, promising her a future filled with countless Livia jewels! Moreover, becoming a Livia jewelry designer was a prestigious honor.
