Olivia gazed at Damien's handsome face, feeling the purest of emotions he poured into her. A wave of warmth surged in her heart. Around the corner, she couldn't resist standing on her toes to plant a gentle kiss on his lips. His ears flushed a slight pink almost instantly. Just then, a group of young girls passed by, chatting and laughing. One of them curiously asked, "Who is Olivia Carlson? Has that brilliant doctor got a girlfriend?"
Olivia perked up her ears, trying to catch their conversation. One of them continued, "She's probably just some internet influencer trying to get famous off Damien Thorn. Have you seen that video? Some nobody with the nerve to claim she could join the Medical Alliance—what a joke! The kind of people we have these days..."
"Ugh, for the sake of fame, people will do anything, won't they? Say outrageous things to get attention, hoping to score an advert deal one day."
"Does this Carlson think having a rich boyfriend means she can join the Medical Alliance? Doesn't she know that her wealthy man might be going to prison? I've heard the Jackson family plans to sue the hospital. After all, Patricia Jackson's death was practically medical negligence!"
"Birds of a feather, eh? With all that's going on with her boyfriend, and she's still trying to use it to boost her profile. Disgraceful!"
"But wait, someone online dug up that Olivia Carlson is Emma Pearson's cousin! You know, Emma Pearson, the real talent, a hundred times better than any fame-seeker."
"Exactly! Emma Pearson is my idol now. She became a Class-C pharmacist for the Medical Alliance at such a young age! The top two in our city are only Class-D, and they didn't get in until they were in their thirties. Miss Pearson is amazing!"
"Yes, and have you seen the pictures of Emma Pearson online? She's stunning! Olivia Carlson, on the other hand, insults our intelligence..." Their conversation heated up as Damien's gaze grew colder by the second. Olivia hadn't expected the video to spread so fast—Cindy certainly hadn't let her down. She grabbed Damien's arm and whispered, "Dami, don't be angry."
Damien's jaw tightened as his eyes glinted with fury, staring daggers at the group. He couldn't bear people talking about his Olivia like that. But before he could react, a soft touch distracted him. Olivia kissed him again, smiling. "Don't be upset, Dami. In three days, they'll be embarrassed beyond belief. And tonight, if I'm not mistaken, something entertaining will happen..." She glanced at the time. Cindy had been gone from Elaris Hall for over two hours now. Since her home was nearby, she would've already changed into something more revealing, done her makeup, and likely arrived at the Ritz Hotel.
As Olivia predicted, Cindy had just stepped into the lift. It ascended quickly, soon reaching the top floor. In his suite, Evan Nolan radiated with frustration. Everything had been going wrong for him lately. He was used to being fawned over in these settings, but tonight, someone had the audacity to humiliate him in public! And for Olivia, he was pretending to play hard to get, but she hadn't even tried to change his mind! Still seething, he heard the doorbell ring. It wasn't hotel staff at this hour. Could it be Olivia, realising her mistake and coming to apologise? He wouldn't mind forgiving her, of course—if she made up for it...
As Evan thought of Olivia's increasingly captivating figure, his throat tightened, and he stood up to answer the door.
"What are you doing here?"
He frowned at the sight of the woman standing there. Cindy had dressed up meticulously, wearing a deep V-neck dress that hugged her curves, with lace adorning the back, exposing just enough skin. Seeing Evan made her heart race, and her voice was full of admiration and humility. "Evan, I've been so worried about you..."
