Jennifer parked her car in front of the hospital where Damien was staying. She put on sunglasses and a hat before stepping out with Olivia.
"Liv, have you really decided to be with Damien Thorn?" Jennifer looked around to make sure no one was watching before leading Olivia towards the hospital entrance.
"Yes," Olivia nodded. "I've made up my mind."
Jennifer leaned closer to Olivia and asked, "Be honest, is it because Damien is that good in bed? Is he like a dominating beast in the bedroom?"
Olivia sighed, "Jen, how would you know about that? Have you been dating a hot guy these past few months?"
Jennifer waved her hand. "No, no, I prefer mature, sophisticated men. A typical young stud doesn't really appeal to me."
Hearing this, Olivia couldn't help but think of someone. "Jen, I think Daniel fits your criteria pretty well."
Jennifer's expression froze at the mention of his name. "Even if he were the last man on earth, I wouldn't torture myself by being with him! Besides, my mom married his dad, so we're technically siblings."
At that very moment, the Daniel they were discussing happened to be in Damien's hospital room.
Inside the room, Damien kept glancing at his phone, growing more anxious as dusk approached. The atmosphere in the room grew tense.
Standing beside the bed was a tall, athletic man in a white doctor's coat with only his deep, intense eyes visible above his mask. It was Daniel Stewart.
He flipped through Damien's medical records, his tone slightly teasing. "Looks like you don't have many years left. I wonder how devastated my stepsister's best friend would be if you died?"
Damien glanced at him but said nothing.
Daniel casually set the records aside and asked, "What do you think of the business proposal I showed you?"
Damien pointed to the document in his hand. "Remove this liability clause, and the rest is fine."
Daniel gave him a meaningful look. "Planning your funeral in advance?"
Damien met his gaze. "Don't tell her about my condition."
Daniel knew "her" referred to Olivia, so he nodded, his eyes distant. "I was the only one who didn't bully you back then. That's why we've gotten along in business. And she was kind to you back then, so you've protected her. Damien, if you're gone, I'll take care of her for you, even if it's just for Jen."
With that, he left the room. Just as he exited, the door opened, and two familiar figures walked in together.
The three met at the door, and Olivia quickly greeted, "Mr. Stewart."
Daniel nodded and turned his gaze to Jennifer.
"Jen," he called out.
Jennifer gave him a cold look. "Oh, Mr. Stewart, hello."
Detecting the distance in her tone, Daniel didn't say anything more. He simply gave her a deep look before leaving.
Meanwhile, Olivia ran to Damien's side. "Honey, I'm back. I made it just in time, with five minutes to spare before 6pm!"
Damien checked the time. Olivia was indeed punctual. He felt a mix of happiness and slight disappointment—if she had been late, he could have asked for a kiss as compensation.
Jennifer approached Olivia, linking arms with her. "Hi there!"
Damien stared at Olivia's arm intertwined with Jennifer's, exuding a menacing aura. "Let go of her."
