When mentioning the word "hubby", Olivia's cheeks felt a bit hot.
The man in front of her seemed to be weighing her proposed conditions carefully after hearing them.
Olivia gazed at his exquisite profile, suppressing her nervousness. She leaned in closer and gave him a light kiss on the corner of his lips, softly calling out, "Hubby."
Damien's breathing suddenly became heavier.
Olivia even sensed a physical change in him.
She widened her eyes, struggling not to slide off his lap.
After a few minutes regaining his composure, he stated his own conditions:
"Be home by 6pm every day to have dinner with me. No going out at night. No talking to men - that includes male professors. No physical contact whatsoever with any man or woman. Don't use affectionate terms with anyone except me."
Listening to this litany of rules, Olivia couldn't help but laughingly remark, "But I may have evening classes sometimes."
Damien gave her a look. "I checked your schedule. You only have one evening lecture on Wednesdays for Economics - I can teach you that at home."
Blocked on that point, Olivia tried another angle. "What if a male professor calls on me during class? Can I not answer then?"
Displeasure flickered in Damien's eyes as he reluctantly said, "You cannot say a single word unrelated to the course material."
Olivia nodded obediently. "What about linking arms when going to the bathroom with female friends?"
Damien was adamant. "No!"
Olivia pursed her lips. This guy was being ridiculous - jealous even of other women?
But thinking it over, his agreeing to let her attend classes was already a concession.
She could only agree for now. "Okay, I'll remember all of that."
Damien's gaze held a warning. "Liv, be good. I'll be randomly checking up on you."
Olivia thought to herself, was she allowed to resist this overbearing demon king's tyranny, even just a little bit, within these limits?
Fortunately, on Monday morning, Olivia made it to university without issue.
In the car, the man's mood was foul.
Liv seemed so eager to go to school, to escape from him, which greatly displeased him.
Now that she had left, the empty car felt suffocating.
Up front, Damien's assistant Martin could sense the chilly atmosphere. He carefully asked, "Sir, shall we go to the company now? It's Monday, the routine shareholders meeting."
Damien didn't respond, his gaze fixed outside the window.
Just as Martin wondered what was wrong, the rear door suddenly opened and Olivia hurried over, slightly out of breath.
She bent down, half her body sliding into the backseat as she leaned close to Damien's ear and whispered softly:
"Dami, no wandering off. I'll be monitoring you at school!"
After delivering those words with a peck on his cheek, she turned and dashed away again.
The door closed, and all was calm once more.
To Martin's amazement, the oppressive aura in the car had completely dissipated.
He could have even sworn he saw a hint of a smile on his mercurial boss's face through the rearview mirror.
But when he looked again, Damien had resumed his usual aloof, untouchable visage.
"Martin, to the company," the man's cool voice came from the back.
"Oh, yes sir," Martin hastily replied.
He felt he had grasped a new maxim for career success -
Work hard to please the future Mrs. Thorn, and promotions and wealth will surely follow!
