"So, what cars are we taking?" Abi asks as we all sit around the living room of our apartment.
Asher, Jaxon, and Dillon are sitting on the couch, Carter is sprawled out in the recliner, and Abi is sitting on the ottoman while I sit on the floor on the other side of the coffee table. All the stuff we're taking with us is scattered around the room. There are bags of extra clothes, towels, water guns, and blankets sitting on the floor, ready to go. Jaxon brought a cooler packed with drinks and snacks, but he left it in his truck until we figured out which car we're taking.
"Ryker said he's bringing his dad's Suburban so we can all ride together in one car." I tell them, looking up from the text from him on my phone. "He's heading over now."
"Cool. Let's head out troops!" Jaxon says as everyone gets up to head out to the parking lot.
By the time Ryker parks, everyone is gathered outside. Jaxon and Ryker get to work loading in the cooler from Jaxon's truck while Carter and Dillon argue about seating arrangements and the rest of us load the rest of the stuff into the trunk.
"Enough, children." Ryker says in a low, serious voice. Carter and Dillon stop arguing immediately, looking at Ryker surprised and a little bit startled. He softens his tone before speaking again. "Jax, Riggy, and Ash in the third row. Carter and Dil in the middle row. B, you get shotgun." He decides.
"But I-" Carter starts, but Ryker cuts her off.
"My car, my rules. Suck it up and get in or stay here." He tells her with finality.
Carter huffs and crosses her arms over her chest as she mutters under her breath before getting in the car. Asher and Ryker share a look as everyone loads up into the car. Ryker gives me a hand up into the front seat before going around and getting into the driver's seat. I drop my water bottle into the cup holder and look up when Ryker holds his phone out to me.
"You can pick the music." He says when I look at him, confused. My face breaks into a wide grin at his words.
"Yay! Thank you, thank you, thank you!" I tell him, taking his phone and plugging in the aux cord.
"Why would you do that?" Carter whines. "Tiana has the worst taste in music!" I turn around and glare at her.
"Did you not hear me when I went over the rules, Carter?" Ryker says, looking at her through the rearview mirror. "My car, my rules. B gets to pick the music." He glances over at me before pulling out of the parking lot. I scroll through his playlists for a minute before he speaks up again. "I added your 'Driving' playlist if you want to play that one."
I look up at him and smile. "You did?" He nods at me. "It's like you read my mind. That's exactly what I was looking for!" I tell him.
"It's under the 'liked playlists' tab." He tells me. I find it quickly after that and hit play, letting the songs shuffle through in no particular order.
