As I close the front door and turn to walk to the kitchen, I hear the murmur of the tv in the living room. When I get to the open archway of the living room I look in and see Jaxon laying on the couch, arms behind his head and eyes on the tv. He doesn't look up when I come around the corner, so I take the opportunity to look at him for a moment.
He's wearing a gray 'Talon Creek Varsity' t-shirt and a pair of blue basketball shorts. The way he has his arms tucked behind his head stretches out the muscles in his arms in the most alluring way and raises his shirt up to reveal a section of his abs and in the dim light of the living room I can just make out the v-lines leading into his low-hanging shorts. My eyes travel back to his face and I can see the hard line of his jaw with his head turned towards the tv. I take one more look down at his body and I finally speak.
"Hey, Jaxon." I say softly. His head turns to me slowly, but when his eyes land on me they quickly take in my body and he sits up, eyes wide.
"Bastiana?" His voice sounds surprised. "What are you wearing?"
"Oh, um..." I look down at my outfit and fidget with the hem of my skirt with the hand not holding my phone and the guitar pick with the t-shirt from the show. "Yeah, I don't normally dress like this. Obviously." I roll my eyes at my comment. Of course he knows I don't normally dress like this, he sees me all the time. "I know I probably look weird."
"No! No. You don't look weird." Jaxon says quickly. "You look- Wait. You just got back. You were out all night dressed like that? Where did you go?"
"To see 'Fistful of Assholes'." I scoff a laugh at the ridiculous band name.
"You shouldn't talk about Asher and Ryker like that." Jaxon's face breaks into a wide grin. I just shake my head and smile back at him.
"No, I went to PVO with the guys and saw a band called 'Fistful of Assholes'." I laugh as I unroll the shirt and hold it up as evidence. It's black with red lettering above the image of a large fist punching forward.
"That is a terrible band name!" Jaxon laughs and shakes his head. "But I guess the outfit makes a little more sense now, since you were at PVO."
"Yeah, I guess I got a little carried away." I shrug as I roll the shirt back up and look down at my clothes again. "Probably not my best look."
"Bastiana." Jaxon sighs my name quietly as he stands and walks over to stand a few feet in front of me as his eyes scan my body again. "You look... great. I was just surprised."
"Oh. Thanks." I blush and smile bashfully.
"But I think you're right." He says as he steps forward and reaches down to tuck my hair behind my ear. His fingers trail down my ear to my earring as he gently takes it between his fingers. "This isn't your best look. But I really like it. You look all grown up." His eyes come back to my face and lock on mine as his mouth spreads into a lopsided grin.
