"You know your best friend is an idiot, right?" I mutter to Abi as we watch said best friend nearly take out a display rack of chips while riding a grocery cart down the aisle.

"Yeah, I know." She tells me while picking up a bag of Doritos from a shelf. "But at least he's good at football." I roll my eyes at her. "What? He's the best defensive tackle we've had in years!" She defends him.

"Fair enough. At least you guys won games this year." I relent with a scoff.

My sister has been playing football since she was 12, and since she just finished her last year on the varsity team for our high school, she takes it very seriously. She's the only female high school player in the state right now, and she's a damn good one. She's well-known and well-respected now, but it hasn't always been that way.

It took three years of her working her ass off and proving herself on the field before the guys finally accepted that she wasn't going anywhere. By the time she hit the field with the high school team, she had earned her spot and gained their respect and admiration even.

Her best friend, Jaxon Favero, was the first guy on the team to befriend her. He took much less convincing than the rest of the guys in the program. After their 6th grade season, they were basically inseparable. Now, they're both graduates and finished as first-string defensive varsity players.

"Check this out, Riggy!" Jaxon calls out to Abi, bringing my attention back from my thoughts.

Hearing my sister's nickname makes my lips tilt up in a small smile. Our last name is Rigby, and as is common for football (or any sport, really), most of the team goes by their last names. However, the team decided Riggy was a much better nickname for Abi. Most of the guys on the team thought that was her name for years, which is why I'm smiling.

Riggy Rigby, they thought her name was Riggy Rigby.

The first time Jaxon came over to our apartment, and heard our mom call her Abigail, he was super confused. He told us we were lying to him because that could not possibly be her name. She wasn't an Abi, she was Riggy. I laugh a little at the memory before he draws my attention back to him.

He comes flying towards us, still riding the cart, before turning sideways and attempting to drift to a stop. Keyword: attempting. As soon as the cart turns sideways, it immediately tips over, crashing to the linoleum floor and spilling half the contents of the cart.

"Dammit." Jaxon curses as he hits the floor, too.

"Jax, Coach is gonna kill you if you catch an injury before you even set foot on the field in the fall by doing something so idiotic." My sister chastises him. "And he'll kill me too for aiding and abetting."

Jaxon hops up quickly, brushing himself off. "I'm good, no injury here." He turns from one side to the other with his arms out, as if proving he's fine. "No harm, no foul."
