"All I'm saying is that American History is a depressing way to end the school day." Tiana shrugs as we walk up to our lockers. "And Mr. Trent's voice makes me sleepy."

"You're not wrong there, Doll." I smile as we all open our lockers and start sorting out the books we need to take home tonight. "I think the glare from his bald head is the only thing that keeps me awake." I laugh softly.

"Right?!" Tiana laughs. "I swear he polishes it between classes! That man's head is brighter than my future!" She shakes her head as she zips up her backpack.

"Oh god." I laugh loudly and I hear Ry snort a laugh on her other side. "I think you might be right." We all finish getting our books and close our lockers.

"So, we're still heading back to your place to celebrate your actual birthday today, right?" Tiana asks me as she leans back against her locker.

"Of course, Doll." I smile at her.

"Just the three of us this time though, right?" Ry asks.

"Of course." Tiana grins up at him. "Only the best."

"Cool." Ry nods and hoists his backpack over his shoulder. "Then let's get the hell out of here."

Tiana stands up, pushing off the lockers and they both turn to walk towards the back parking lot where our cars are. I hesitate before I speak up.

"Actually, I've got to stop by the office and talk to the bookkeeper about some outstanding fees from last year." I motion over my shoulder with my thumb towards the administration offices.

"Oh, well we'll come with you." Tiana says as she turns back around.

"No, its okay." I wave off her offer. "It'll be boring and it should only take a few minutes. You guys go ahead and I'll meet you at my place."

"Are you sure?" Ry asks, raising an eyebrow at me.

"Yeah, it's fine. I'm right behind you guys, I promise." I give them both a smile.

"Alright." Tiana says slowly. "Don't be too long, and drive safe." She steps towards me and hugs me quickly.

"I will, Doll." I grin at her as she steps back next to Ry.

"See you in a few, Ash." Ry nods at me.

They turn and walk down the hall. I stand there for a second as I watch them walk away. I take a deep breath and turn to walk towards the math hall where most of the seniors' lockers are.

I didn't want to lie to Tiana and Ry, but I also didn't want to tell them what I'm about to do.

On Friday, while we were all at my house hanging out, I saw Ry and Tiana sitting on the porch. I'd gone into the den to grab a set of playing cards and saw them through the window there. It was slightly open, so their words drifted to my ears.
