SEPTEMBER
"'There's nothing half so pleasant as coming home again.'" Tiana's whispers to me, after Ry finally let her go so I could hug our girl.
"Margaret Elizabeth Sangster." I smile against her hair. "Well said, Doll. Welcome home."
"It's good to be back." She sighs softly as I set her back on her feet and reluctantly release my hold on her.
"We've got a whole night set up for you back at my place, B." Ry says with a grin. "Your curfew is still extended, right?"
"Yep!" Tiana nods enthusiastically. "Right, mom?" She asks as Josie walks over, carrying Tiana's duffle bag.
"Just make sure you're back by 5:30, Miss Thing." Josie gives her a stern look. "If I don't lay eyes on you before I leave for work, I'll pull your curfew back to 11 for the rest of the summer. Don't make me regret this exception."
"Got it, Momma!" Tiana bounces excitedly. "Get some sleep! I'll put on the coffee when I get back." She tells her as she kisses her on the cheek with a grin.
"Alright, have fun. And boys?" Josie turns to us. "Please return her in the same condition she's currently in. We just got her back. It'd be a shame to lose her now." She gives us a warm smile.
"Yes, Ma'am." I tell her with a nod.
"Of course, Miss Josie." Ry nods.
"Have fun, kids." With that, she goes inside and we turn back to Tiana.
"You ready, Doll?" I smile at her.
"So ready! Let's go, let's go, let's go!" She squeals as she pulls us away from the door and towards the parking lot.
"Alright, alright!" I laugh. "Breathe, Doll."

"Deep breath in, Doll." I say slowly. "Now hold it... and exhale." I instruct her.
As she slowly exhales the thick cloud of smoke, her eyes widen and she starts coughing. I take the blunt from her fingers as she bends over to rest her hands on her knees.
"That was a big hit, B." Ry gently rubs her back as she coughs. "Pace yourself. Here's some water when you're ready." He tells her as he holds out a bottle of water for her.
When her coughing finally subsides, she takes a small sip from the bottle before handing it back to Ry and laying out flat on the grass, looking up at the sky.
"Wow." She exhales deeply. "I think I just coughed so hard that my back cracked." She lets out a soft laugh as she lays there.
Ry and I smile down at her then look at each other, shaking our heads. Tiana insisted we light the blunt as soon as we stepped into Ry's backyard. We didn't bother arguing.
