"I'm telling you it was awful!" I laugh as I walk into the school with Asher and Ryker on Monday morning. "It took all night to wash it out of my hair!" I throw my hands up in exasperation. "I think there may still be some in there!" I roll my eyes and scratch the back of my head lightly.
"I thought you smelled a little extra sweet this morning, Doll." Asher teases, gently ruffling my hair.
"Yeah, because I took like 8 showers last night!" I laugh, swatting his hand away. "I swear it's the only time I haven't liked Benny's milkshakes!" I laugh softly and shake my head.
"I'm not so sure it was the milkshake's fault, B." Ryker smirks at me. "That one might be a user error." He teases me.
"Hey, it's not my fault I'm clumsy!" I smile, gently elbowing him in the ribs. "Those skates are lethal!" I point out as we turn into Main Hall.
"Okay, that's fair." Asher relents. "You're not the skater in the family, Doll."
"No. I am decidedly not." I shake my head. "I'm the least athletic person in my whole family, actually." I scoff. "At least it wasn't worse. My pride was wounded more than anything else." I laugh.
"How's your wrist though, B?" Ryker asks, gently lifting my left hand to look at the wrist I used to try to catch myself when I fell during my shift yesterday.
"It's still sore, but it's not broken, so I'll be fine." I shrug and wince as I flex my fingers. "At least it's not my dominant hand."
"Still, let me know if you need help with anything, okay?" Ryker says as he carefully releases my wrist. "And I have some stronger pain meds if you need them, B." He offers.
"Oh, I remember." I laugh as we turn into the English hall. "Those things are very strong." I shake my head. "But, barring further injury, I'm sure I'll be fine."
"Yeah, our girl is strong, Ry." Asher laughs, lightly shoving Ryker as we walk up to our lockers. Ryker just rolls his eyes and opens his locker.
"I know, Ash." He shakes his head. "I think her worrying tendencies are starting to rub off on me." He smiles down at me.
"You know you love it when I worry about your grumpy ass." I stick my tongue out at him as I enter my locker combination. "So grumpy." I turn to say to Asher, scrunching my nose up and smirking playfully. "Plus, I -" My words are cut off when I open my locker and hundreds of flyers start pouring out. I gasp and jump back as they cascade down around my feet. "What the hell?!"
Asher and Ryker both step away from the sea of papers as they continue to pour out of my locker. There must be thousands of them crammed into my locker. I stand there in shocked silence as the never ending wave of flyers draws the attention of students walking through the crowded hallway. They stop to gawk at the spectacle as the avalanche finally slows to a stop.
