"I'm glad you had fun at camp, Doll." Ash tells Tiana as we walk to my place later. "But I'm even more glad that you're back."
"Ditto, B." I sigh deeply. "We missed you. I'm pretty sure I nearly drove Ash nuts with my whining like a little bitch all month." I scoff.
"It wasn't too terrible." Ash gives me a soft smile over Tiana's head as we walk up my driveway. "It was alright having some guy time." He shrugs and I look away.
"But it definitely felt like something was missing." I add quickly, smiling down at Tiana.
"You are definitely the glue in this trio, Doll." Ash laughs, throwing an arm around her shoulders as we step into the backyard. "You're not allowed to leave us for so long again."
"Ever, B." I say as I quickly light the preset fire and they sit down in their chairs. "Seriously." I give her a stern look as I sit down in my own chair. I don't think I could handle going through another month without her.
"Well, since you mentioned it..." Tiana starts but pauses to look at each of us. "Before I left camp, I picked up three counselor registration packets for next summer. I think you guys should go with me next year!" She says excitedly.
"B..." I shake my head. There's no way I'm spending a month with ankle biters in the middle of the forest.
"I don't know, Doll..." Even Ash sounds wary.
"Come on!" She jumps out of her chair and spins around to look at us, hands on her hips. "Where is your sense of adventure?!"
"Right here." I grunt. "We could have a much better summer here. All together. Like always." I deadpan.
"He makes a strong point, Doll." Ash laughs.
"But guys!" She whines. "It's beautiful there! There's a river that runs along one side of the camp, and trails everywhere, with amazing viewpoints! You guys would love it there!" She throws her hands up.
"But the ankle biters don't sound so amazing, B." I mock. "Why would I spend a month with a bunch of brats when I could be here hanging out with my best friends."
"And all the mosquitos?" Ash grimaces and shakes his head. "You know they love my Italian blood, Doll!"
"Okay." Tiana laughs. "You've got me there. The bug bites suck." She sighs then her face lights up as she thinks of something. "And if I say I'm going next year anyway?" She raises an eyebrow at us.
"Then we'll just have to convince you to stay, Doll." Ash gets up and wraps his arms around Tiana, lightly tickling her sides. She laughs loudly and tries to swat his hands away.
"But this could be so much fun!" She tries again. "I had an incredible time. The only way it could have been better is if you guys were with me." She pouts dramatically.
