"Why does she even park back here anyway?" Ryker grumbles as he and Asher help me carry supplies over to the scaffolding set up along the wall outside the gym. "I thought only athletes and coaches got spots back here."

"They do." I say as I lift a box out of Asher's truck bed. "She's a cheerleader, so they gave her a spot." I roll my eyes.

"Well, something tells me she's about to regret parking back here, Doll." Asher smirks at me as he lifts two large buckets of paint out of his truck and follows me over to the wall.

"Oh, she definitely will." I laugh softly. "And this is a foolproof plan." I say as I set the box of brushes down on the lowest level of the scaffolding.

"Better than the disappearing ink at Snoball?" Ryker asks as he sets down the buckets of paint he's carrying.

"Oh, definitely." I nod. "This plan has contingencies and incontrovertible proof of innocence built into it." I say proudly.

"I can't wait, Doll." Asher grins as mischief dances behind his forest green eyes.

"Are you sure this is safe, B?" Ryker asks as he looks up at the scaffolding, giving it a forceful shake. "Doesn't seem all that sturdy to me."

"Principal Hawthorne assured me it's up to code." I shrug. "It was either this or one of those Genie lift things that the drama department uses to build sets and fix their lights and stuff. But you have to be certified or something to use them, so this was plan B." I say as I look up at it.

"Still, I think I'll have one of my uncles come down and take a look at it tomorrow." Ryker grumbles.

"The twin uncles that work construction?" I ask and he nods at me. "That's smart. Thanks, Ry!"

"No problem, B." He says as we walk back over to Asher's truck for the rest of the supplies.

"I'm sure it'll be fine for today, though." I say as we pick up the last few tubs of paint and the last box of tools. "I'm just putting up the outline, so I won't be up there very long."

"Well, I'm still going to stick around." Ryker says. "Seems a little precarious to me."

"Well, I would love the company anyway, Ry." I smile up at him as we set down the last of the supplies.

"Was there a plan C?" Asher asks suddenly. Ryker and I both look over at him with our eyebrows furrowed. "If the scaffolding wasn't the answer, was there a plan C?" He explains.

"Yeah." I nod. "Rope and a safety harness." I deadpan as I point up at the roof.

"You're not serious, B." Ryker says in disbelief.

"Straight from Hawthorne's mouth." I hold up three fingers in scout's honor.

     "Seriously, Doll?" Asher scoffs.
