"Night, Ry!" Asher calls to Ryker. He just grunts and mutters something under his breath that I don't catch.
Asher holds the gate open for me and closes it behind us after we walk through before falling into step beside me.
"So," he throws an arm over my shoulders, "good night?" he asks me.
"Perfect night." I give him a wide grin. "I always love bonfires with you guys. They are some of my favorite summer memories."
"Me too, Doll. Me too." He says.
We walk most of the way in comfortable silence while I hum a song that's been stuck in my head all day. When we get to my parking lot, Asher doesn't stop by his car, opting to walk me all the way to the front door.
"Thanks for walking me home, Ash." I say as I pull my keys out of my pocket and unlock the door without pushing it open yet. "Such a gentleman." I laugh.
"'I would rather walk with a friend in the dark, than alone in the light.'" Asher says.
"I don't think I know that one." I say, tilting my head in confusion.
"Helen Keller. Come on, Doll." He teases me.
"Right. I knew that." I smile.
"Plus," He adds, "I wouldn't dare be anything less than chivalrous, especially to you, Doll." He smiles as he lifts my hand and kisses my knuckles loudly, making me giggle.
"'you must have a honeycomb for a heart how else could a man be this sweet'" I quote to him with a smile.
"Who said that?" He tilts his head in confusion this time.
"Only one of my favorite modern poets; Rupi Kaur." I smirk at him.
"And here I thought it was just you complimenting my sweet heart, Doll." He winks at me.
"You are such a dork." I move in to hug him, wrapping my tiny arms around his large frame. "Get home safe, okay?"
"Of course. And I promise to text you this time." He says as he releases me. "I know I forgot last time, and I know how you worry." He teases me.
"Good. I might have to track you down and beat you up if you forget." I say in a mock serious tone. Asher raises a disbelieving brow at me. "Okay, or I'll just ask Ry to pop you one right in the nose for letting me worry again." We both laugh.
"I'm sure he'd do that for you, too." Asher laughs. "Alright, you've gotta get inside and I have to get home. Goodnight. Sleep tight." He starts walking towards his car. He turns back around to add, "Today was a great day, Doll." I smile softly and nod.
"Goodnight, Ash. See you tomorrow!" I call out to him. He turns to wave as he gets into his car and I push the door open and head inside, locking the door behind me.
