As I walk into the apartment later after having lunch with Ryker and Asher, I'm thinking about what size canvas and what color scheme I want to use today and I don't notice Abi sitting in the living room until she speaks.
"Hey Tiana." she says from her spot on the couch.
"Oh!" I jump a little and my hand flies to my chest. "Jeez Abi, you scared me." I take a breath. "What's up?" I ask her. She answers without looking up from the tv where she seems to be looking for something to watch.
"What happened with you and Jax last night?" I freeze at her words.
"What do you mean?" I ask, nervously. I really don't want to explain last night to her. Not only because I'm still not entirely sure what was going on with Jaxon, but also because I don't want to make things weird between the two of them.
"He said he scared you last night and he wanted to apologize." Some of the tension drains from my body at the half truth he must have told her.
"Oh. Yeah." I fidget nervously. "He scared me a little when I got back last night. I didn't expect anyone to still be up." I shrug. "Wait, when did he tell you this?" I ask, remembering that he didn't mention it before he left this morning.
"When he got here like an hour ago." She tells me and finally glances over at me before looking back to the tv.
"Well, then where is your goon?" I say, looking around and not seeing him.
"In your room." She says nonchalantly.
"He's where?" I ask her, my eyebrows jumping up in surprise.
"He said he wanted to apologize and make it up to you." She shrugs, flicking through shows on the tv like this is a normal thing for him to do. "He asked if he could set something up in your room so I said sure. He's been up there for a while though."
"You didn't think to ask him what it was? Or, I don't know, supervise him maybe?" Abi just shakes her head without looking at me. "How are you so casual about this, Abi?! What if he's up there destroying my room or setting up a prank or something?!" I raise my voice a little.
"It didn't seem like such a big deal." She shrugs again. I want to smack her shoulders back down and shake them. "Seemed like he felt really bad. What did he do to you anyway?"
"Nothing that required an elaborate apology that requires 'set up'!" I say turning towards the stairs. When I get to the bottom step, Jaxon is coming down.
"Hey, Little Rig! I thought I heard your voice!" He says with a smile. "Come with me. I want to show you something." He grabs my hand and starts to pull me up the stairs. I'm surprised by the feeling of his large hand wrapping around mine, so I don't resist.
