"I've got something a little stronger for the pain, if you want it, B." Ryker says softly as we walk towards the locker rooms after school.
I look over at him and see the worry etched on his face. I've been grimacing for most of the last two hours as the pain in my face and wrists has gotten worse. I've got a pounding headache and my wrists are throbbing from trying to catch myself earlier. I look down at the bruises that have formed on my wrists and sigh deeply as I relent.
"Yeah, that would actually be great. The adrenaline and rage wore off a while ago, so I'm actually in a lot of pain now." I pout a little and lean against his arm as we near the locker rooms.
"Alright, I'll go get it out of my car." He turns slightly and pulls me into his chest for a brief and gentle hug. "Stay with Ash and I'll be right back, okay, B?" I step back to look up at him and nod.
"Thanks, Ry." I give him a small smile before he turns to walk out to the parking lot and I turn to Asher.
"Come here, Doll." Asher gives me a sympathetic look as he wraps his arms around me and pulls me into his chest. "I'm sorry you're hurting, but you'll be alright." He rubs my back in soothing circles and I wrap my arms around his torso as I melt against him.
"Thanks, Ash." I sigh. "I'll be even better when that bitch gets what's coming to her." I say in a low voice. "She's going to regret starting this war."
"I believe you, Doll." Asher laughs lightly. "She messed with the wrong girl."
"Damn straight." I smirk.
We stay there embracing for another minute or two until Ryker walks back in.
"These are pretty strong, so you should only need one, B." He tells me as he drops one small white pill into my palm and offers me his green Gatorade water bottle.
"Should I even ask what this is or where you got it?" I raise an eyebrow at him as I take the green bottle from him.
"No." He says curtly. "They're safe and they work. That's all you need to know, B."
I don't hesitate putting the pill on my tongue and washing it down with his water before looking back up at him. "I know you'd never give me anything that wasn't safe. I trust you, Ry." I smile at him and hand the bottle back to him. "Thank you."
"Anytime, B." The corner of his mouth turns up slightly. "Are you still staying for practice, or do you want to go home and rest? I can take you home if you want."
"No, I'm staying. If you guys are still okay with that?" I ask.
"Of course, Doll." Asher smiles down at me. "You are always welcome at our practices."
"Thanks. Yeah, I'm going to stay. I should be fine as soon as that pill kicks in, anyway." I laugh softly.
"Alright, cool." Ryker nods. "We'll go change and meet you back here so we can walk out to the field together."
