"But what if I need advice?" I whine as I put another box in the trunk of Abi's car.
"Then you'll ask mom, or your two best friends, or Liz." Abi laughs lightly.
"But what if I need a BSB? Who's going to go to Benny's with me?" I sigh.
"Maybe you should start taking Car to breakfast. Pass on the tradition to the next sister." She gives me a small smile and puts a comforting hand on my shoulder.
"How dare you!" I gasp, dramatically placing my hand on my chest. "We are the big sisters!" I say seriously. "That is our thing."
"Maybe you and Car need a thing now. You guys are going to have to look out for Dil and help mom out more now, okay?" She tells me.
"Okay." I sigh deeply. "But what if I just need my big sister?" I ask softly.
"Tiana." Abi sighs and wraps me in a hug. "You are going to be just fine without me."
"But what if I'm not?" I whisper.
"Then I'm just a phone call away, okay?" She pulls back to look at me. "I'm just going upstate for college. I'm not going far." She laughs softly. "I'll visit all the time. You'll see me for the holidays, I promise. And I'll spend spring break with you guys, too."
"Promise?" I sniffle a little.
"I promise, Tiana. You can't get rid of me that easily. I've been around for your whole life. That's not going to change anytime soon." She gives me a soft smile and nods. "Now, stand up straight and don't cry in front of Car and Dil. You're the role model now. You need to be strong for them."
"I will be, I promise." I say quietly as I hear the rest of our family approaching. "I'm going to miss you, Abi."
"I'm going to miss you too, Tiana." She smiles then looks over at our approaching family. "Hey guys!"
"You're still here?" Carter rolls her eyes but it's half hearted and her voice is an octave higher than usual.
"I'm gonna miss you too, Car." Abi laughs.
"Do you have to go?" Dillon asks softly as he attaches himself to Abi's waist.
"I won't be gone forever, Dil." She smiles down at him, ruffling his hair. "I'm just going to a new school. I'll be back for Thanksgiving, maybe even sooner. Okay?"
"Promise?" He looks up at her with sad eyes.
"I absolutely promise, Dil." She hugs him tightly for a moment before he steps back to stand next to Carter.
"I packed you some snacks for the road." Mom hands her a small cooler. Abi takes it and sets it in her passenger seat before closing the door. "Do you have everything you need? I can always make a trip up if you forge-" Mom starts to ramble but Abi cuts her off.
