"I don't know what you're grumbling about, Ry. I'm having a great time!" I laugh as Ry scowls where he sits on the checkered blanket on the other side of Tiana.
"Honestly." Tiana laughs, shaking her head. "I even chose a place where there's almost no foot traffic." She looks around us.
We're sitting beside a quiet stretch of the river on a grassy bank. Tiana set out a cute little picnic blanket where we all sit now, enjoying the warm weather and sounds of the river.
She's sitting between Ry and I, like always, and she looks radiant. She has her smooth tanned legs stretched out in front of her, crossed at the ankle and she's leaning back on her hands. Her face is turned up to the sun as she basks in its warmth. The midday sun dances across her skin as the leaves of the trees above us shift and sway in the light breeze. When she looks over at me and smiles, the sunlight hits her eyes and I can see the tiny gold flakes near her iris. She's practically glowing, and I find it difficult to look away from her.
"Plus, it's a perfect day for item number 15: Have a Picnic." She adds, looking back to Ry.
"Yeah, but you're not the one wearing leather pants." Ry rolls his eyes. "I look ridiculous." He grunts.
"I maintain that you look hot." Tiana shrugs before glancing over at me. "Ash, don't you think this is a good look for Ry? He looks good, right?"
I smile down at her beside me. "Absolutely, Doll." I agree easily. "Like always your taste is impeccable and second to none." I tell her.
"Thank you!" She turns back to Ry. "Told you. You really shouldn't doubt me." She laughs softly.
I look over at Ry and I can't help the heat that colors my cheeks. Tiana is right, Ry does look hot. The outfit she chose for him makes him look dangerous and sexy. His shirt is so tight it practically looks wet with the way it molds to his abdomen. His thighs look strong and muscular in the leather pants and his shoes add a subtle touch of maturity. But that chain around his neck? Something about it makes me want to grab hold of it and pull him to me.
Hot? Sexy? Muscular? What is going on with me?
Ry is straight. I need to accept that. These sudden feelings I've been having around him have to stop. He would freak out if he found out and our friendship would never be the same. But it's so much more complicated than that, for one simple reason.
No one knows I'm bisexual.
I haven't even said the words out loud yet. The idea of telling anyone, even my best friends, is terrifying. What would they think? Would it destroy everything? How long can I keep this from them?
Maybe I should just rip off the band aid and tell them. But how does one find the right moment to say something like that?
And what happens when school starts again? Will this change how the team looks at me? Oh, God. What if they refuse to be in the locker room with me? Or if they don't even want to be on the field with me? The team means a lot to me. They're like brothers to me. I don't want to lose that.
