prologue

Aurelia Nash always loved seeing her father at work, the late nights or twenty four hour shifts never bothered her because she knew he was doing a good job and was lucky enough to visit whenever she could. the 118 was a family to her, though she wasn't a firefighter herself, they all treated her with so much love when Bobby had first become captain.

but when she first met Evan Buckley, everything changed.

the one who always brought a smile to her face and made her laugh whenever he had a chance to. they both made each other feel welcome immediately and never spent a day apart, they were always together.

"tomorrow's the day huh?" Buck asked wrapping a few plates for Aurelia to pack.

"mhmm. leaving at five in the morning." the redhead says turning her head to the green eyed man.

"did you figure out how long you're staying yet?"

shaking her head, Aurelia pulled her legs up to her chest completely facing Buck who stopped what he was doing, "promise to call?"

"i'm gonna call you everyday so you'll get sick of me." a laugh left her lips feeling her heart skip a beat hearing him laugh.

"be careful over there okay? i know you'll be fine but-"

"call if i ever need anything. i know." Aurelia smiled at him.

Buck grinned moving towards her hugging her tightly, Aurelia's arms wrapped around his neck resting her chin on his shoulder. her heart started racing as he squeezed her tightly, feelings were strange, how could one person make her feel like this?

"good luck, Aure." he whispered in her ear.

Aurelia always dreamed of traveling, she'd been set on going to Spain for as long as she could remember. when Bobby took her in she started saving up from the coffee shop job he had helped her get and now she can finally say she got to travel even once.

she couldn't have done it without Buck's help who had been trying to convince her since they had first met each other a year ago when he first joined the 118. Evan knew how much she wanted to travel until one day he decided to book the plane ticket for her since all she could do was just stare at the computer.

a year had already passed and Aurelia was ready to go back home to her father and to Buck. all the excitement and anxiety filled her body with just the thought of seeing Evan Buckley right in front of her again in person. the more she spoke to him everyday since she left, the more her feelings for him increased more and more.

Aurelia didn't know what she was going to expect when she arrived back in Los Angeles, but it was a risk she was gonna take.

and also i'm just in love with Buck.

i had no idea that when i started 9-1-1 i was going to be absolutely obsessed with him.

i hope you all love this book and Aurelia because i already adore her! she's the absolute cutest.
