Aurelia swam up coughing up water, she frantically looked around not seeing Christopher or Buck calling out their names repeatedly. another surge of water came right at her she tried to swim as fast as possible getting away from it was caught under the water. not caring about the salt water burning her eyes Aurelia swam around trying to find something to climb on.
making her way to what looked like a coffee shop reaching the tapestry pulling herself up on it, she knew it wasn't going to last with her sitting on it but it'd give her enough time to come up with something. Aurelia's eyes wandered everywhere not seeing Buck or Chris anywhere, tears rolled down her cheeks resting her head against the building. her hands gripped the bottom of Buck's over shirt hoping both him and Christopher were okay.
meanwhile Buck was sitting with Christopher on the back of the 136 fire truck with a lot of others Buck had saved. playing a game to pass the time until they were all rescued.
"okay, i spy with my little eye something that.. moves people around." Buck says to Christopher who started to look around.
"um.. oh. a scooter." Chris' eyes landed on the scooter that was floating.
"ah, yeah. nice one. okay, genius. your turn."
"i spy.. a shopping cart."
Buck couldn't help but laugh at his guess, "what? no, come on. hey, that's not how the game works. you can't just yell stuff out."
"but yelling stuff out is the fun part!" Christopher cheered loudly.
Buck laughed smiling down at the boy, "you amaze me, buddy."
"why?"
"i got some bad news at work the other day, and i didn't wanna get out of bed for a whole week. i didn't even talk to Aurelia and i always talk to her. but you, after the day you had, here you are with a big smile, bustin' a gut. you never gave up. even when that water was rushing over you back there. you just kept on swimming." Buck tells the boy.
"like Dory." Chris responded earning a chuckle from Buck.
"yeah, like Dory. not-not just today, you know, but every day. you never say no. you never complain. how-how do you do that?"
"well, i complained once, but it didn't work." Chris said.
