Athena, May, Harry and Aurelia sat at the table in the backyard of the Grant/Nash household, Aurelia and May sitting next to each other watching Athena and Harry playing a board game. Bobby was standing at the barbecue laughing at the four who were concentrated on the game. Buck and Ajax who were currently missing because Ajax had soccer practice.
"oh. don't mess up. don't mess up." May says holding Aurelia's hand tightly.
"but if you do that means May and i win." Aurelia teased her stepmother who laughed.
"mm-mm."
"oh. you're nervous." May smiled.
"be careful." Harry tells his mother.
"oh, you're nervous." Aurelia laughed.
"i see you shaking."
Harry stood up shaking his mother's shoulders as the blocks fell down, Aurelia laughed leaning into May as Athena and Harry started chasing each other in the backyard.
"all right, make room for some food." Bobby said putting the burgers on a plate.
"double cheese and onion?" Harry asks Bobby.
"Harry's special, right there." Bobby said.
"Michael, quit loitering! come eat!" Athena called out to Michael who made his way over.
"hey, uh, you guys, i have some news. David is going to Haiti." Michael tells his family.
"Haiti? why?" May asks her father.
"well, he knows some people there that are doing relief work. they need doctors. he wants to help. and he's leaving next week." Michael explained.
"well, how do you feel about that?" Bobby asks.
"i'm proud of him. you know, sad for me. but before he goes, uh... i'm gonna propose." Michael says and all eyes widened in the room.
"Michael." Athena whispered.
"no, Athena, it's not what you think."
"what, that you want to put a ring on it because David's leaving and you're scared?"
"no, it's just..." Michael started to say, "i've been thinking about being without him for the next few months, and i realized that i don't want to be without him ever. you know, i want to be with him for the rest of my life. and i don't want him to leave without knowing that."
