Welcome to Cupid! That's all I have to say.

A note before we start: There are some words in an 'angelic language' using symbols. Most of these will have a translation as the bottom of the chapter.

Karl POV.

My hand gently knocked on the wooden door leading off the entrance foyer of the church. A cautious voice told me to ‘come in’ and I did. A woman was standing in front of a mirror, her almond coloured skin and raven hair being fiddled with constantly. I just watched as she made small adjustments to her appearance.

Her gaze moved up to look at me through the reflection and she managed a small smile. “Karl.” Her voice was soft and she turned around, being careful in the long white gown. “Oh you shouldn’t have come in here, I look like a mess.”
“No, you look beautiful Micayla.” I told her, closing the distance between us.

Tears continued to roll down her face and I gently reached to wipe them away. At the same time I sent a flicker of angelic magic through her to stop her make-up from smudging. “Ryan is so lucky to be marrying you.” I said, whispering as though it was some kind of secret, when in reality it was a common fact.

“Thank you Karl. If it weren’t for you and Sapnap I would have never married him, we’d have just been coworkers who sit across from each other.” Her words made me beam proudly.
“But it wasn’t us who did it. You two are clearly soulmates… destined to be together.”

She laughed. “There you go with all that soulmate nonsense again. But thanks to you and Sapnap, I am actually starting to believe it.” Micayla took a moment to turn and admire her appearance again. “And he’s going to think I look so beautiful.”

“You do look beautiful.” I reminded her. As I said that I pulled out a gift, causing her to gasp quickly. “This is from Sapnap and I. He’s giving Ryan a gift just like it.”
“Karl you didn’t have to.” She took the gift which was wrapped in golden paper with a white ribbon and bow. “It goes with our wedding colours.” Her voice was soft and I nodded.

“Are you going to be at the wedding?” She asked, her gaze softening as she looked back up at me. “Please say you are.”
I took a step back, solemnly shaking my head. “Our flight is in a few hours, we have to go to the airport. If we had known the wedding would be today…”

Micayla cut me off, her gaze showing that she seemed to have accepted the fact that I wasn’t going to be there. “No need to say anything.” She told me. “You and Sapnap have done so much for us. We have no right to be upset at you. Thank you both.”

The woman hugged me, her arms basically restricting me before eventually backing away. “Thank you so much Karl. If we end up having a son I’m going to make sure we name it after you.” Then she chuckled, and I couldn’t help but do the same.
“Thanks…” I responded, albeit awkwardly, then I took a step back.

“I have to go.” I told her, my hand drifting down to my wrist and fiddling with my watch. “But you look absolutely beautiful, and I know you are going to have the best day ever.”
“Thank you Karl.” As I continued walking to the door I heard it click open behind me. I turned to see Micayla’s father, a strong stoic man dressed in a black and gold tuxedo.

As I passed him I gave a respectful nod before leaving the room. Most of the guests were already sitting in the church, most of whom I recognised from my time here. Although in reality I could sit and watch the ceremony alongside them I figured it wasn’t for the best. Instead I slipped out of the doors into the warm Summer afternoon.

Being careful to avoid the windows I slipped around the side of the building before turning myself invisible, at least invisible to human sight. Then I stretched, my wings unfurling behind my back before flapping and sending me up to the roof. This church happened to have a flat roof, and a skylight right above the altar which allowed me to see the entire ceremony.

“It took you long enough.” I looked over to see Sapnap there, already waiting while preening his own wings. “I was getting worried.”
“Why would you have to be worried?” I questioned, turning around as my wings folded behind each other on my back. “I was just with Micayla.”

“Perhaps I was paranoid that Oscar from the office drew you away from me.” He stood up and walked over. His feet were light enough on the roof that you couldn’t hear them, just like all angel feet. When he reached me his arms snaked around my waist. “You know how he was looking at you, and your effortless beauty.”

“And you are my soulmate.” My hands pressed on his chest. “I have no desire to leave you for anyone else in the universe, my beloved.”
“I know.” The ravenette’s voice was smug. “I just wanted to hear you say that.” His gaze turned towards the skylight. “Do you want to watch the wedding?”

“Well I guess we-” I was cut off with my watch and Sapnap’s watch beeping. My wings roused themselves as Sapnap went to press the button.
The voice of the head cupid came through it. “ᛊᚨᛈᚾᚨᛈ, ᚴᛅᚱᛚ.” The voice said. “You have a new assignment. Please report back to HQ.”

I glanced over at my boyfriend. “Guess we have to go.” I shrugged. My wings flapped slightly as I spared a glance down the church below.
“Duty calls.” He responded. His hands went around my waist, holding it closely.

“You want to hold me?” My eyes narrowed as a smirk grew on my face. He rolled his eyes but I allowed him to continue holding me, even wrapping my own arms around his shoulders. When we were holding each other I teleported us back to our homeworld, which was a practical Utopia.

We stepped away from one another, standing on a firm cloud surface under a warm sun. Many other angels of different types were walking or flying around, all of them happy. We didn’t waste any time hanging around, instead unfurling our wings and soaring up the side of one of the large buildings called ᚺᛖᛞ ᚨᛜᛖᛚ ᛟᚠᚠᛁᚲᛖᛊ, the head angel offices.

Cupid HQ was on the tenth floor of the building, with the only higher levels belonging to Guardian Angels. We flew up to the balcony which was the entrance of the building. Flowers wrapped around the edges of the platform. My wings neatly folded themselves back as I headed inside however Sapnap kept his out to show off.

ᛘᛁᚾᚴᛋ, or Minx as she preferred to be called was in reception. She, like Sapnap, was a black-winged angel, however she had weaved in some purple and blue adornments for details, her fingers were trailing over a purple weave on her lower left wing. Minx’s gaze flickered up at us and she smiled. “Hey guys. How are you both doing?”

“We’re good.” I smiled. “Are we able to go and see ᛒᚼᛁᛚᛋᛅ? We were told that we have a new assignment.” She just nodded at us.
“He told me that he was expecting you, so go one in.”

Both of us thanked her before heading into the office behind her.
