Part 30 - THE TRAINEE TEACHER

Stephen arrived back at Grange Road finally. It felt like a very long time since he was last here. Of course things would be a lot different this time. Joe would not be there with him any more and this time he wasn't going to be the quiet boy he used to be

He was taken to see Sean immediately upon arrival 

Sean, yawning and drinking a red bull to help him through the day after a sleepless night, welcomed Stephen back

''Well welcome back Stephen'' he said

''Thanks Sir'' Stephen replied politely. He was hating having to be polite and call Sean Sir but he had to act friendly it was part of his plan to trick Sean while he planned revenge

''I was so sorry to hear about Joe'' Sean said and shook his head in sorrow. He didn't really care but he had to pretend in front of Stephen ''I sincerely hope you are coping with his death Stephen?'' 

''Yes i came to terms with it Sir. Life must go on after all'' Stephen said and did an excellent job of disguising his anger

''Well you may go to lessons now Stephen''

''Yes Sir''

Stephen was dismissed. After he had left Sean poured some whisky and red bull, What a mixture!

Sean was suspicious of Stephen. He had this idea that maybe Stephen would be blaming him for Joe's death and would try to get revenge for it. So he decided he would keep an eye on Stephen. He had to hand credit where its due though. The boy had just done an excellent job of hiding any bad feeling it might have for Sean. He played it cool, calm, really an excellent performance. Sean was impressed but not fooled by Stephen

Later there was an assembly and Sean took total delight in humiliating Darren, now back in a uniform, by ordering him to stand at the front

''Boys Darren has something he wants to tell you'' Sean said with a grin

Darren bowed his head in embarrassment ''Yeah boys, like, well see i'm sorry, like, i provoked you all over the uniforms. Well as of today i am back in my uniform'' 

Callum, still wearing his own clothes, was particularly angry about this

''Well its a bit late now!'' he said in fury ''You provoked me and now i have detention for life!''

''Yes well don't be too upset Callum because now Darren has the same punishment as you'' Sean told him

This news cheered Callum, Louis and Reece up a bit. Another boy would be joining them on permanent detention and this was good. The more boys suffering the same punishment the better and even better that it was Darren

''Well i'll still wear my own clothes Sir'' Callum said defiantly

''Yes that's fine Callum'' Sean said ''Its too late to be forgiven now, you will carry on serving detention anyway, so you can wear your own clothes Callum i don't care'' 

Louis would also carry on wearing his own clothes and would keep his long hair

''Darren will carry on running the protection racket'' Sean told the boys and they were all outraged 

''Don't worry boys'' he said after they had calmed down a bit and stopped yelling ''From now on Darren won't keep a penny of the profits i'll keep the lot! You can all take some comfort in knowing that Darren is serving as my prefect but is no longer getting any money from it. He serves and is being punished at the same time'' 

Liam met up with Stephen at lunchtime

''Yo Steve'' he said ''Welcome back''
