Part 71 -THE MONK FROM HELL Part 2

''Well now that i am the head monk there will be some new rules for you to obey'' Sean told all the monks

''What sort of rules?'' Daniel asked

''For a start you will all address me as Sir''

''No you're kidding i am not addressing you as Sir again'' Daniel said angrily ''No way. I am not going back to those days when i was under your control at Grange Road''

''But Daniel, my boy, you have no choice now that i am in control here. Either you'll obey me and show me respect or you'll kicked out of the monastery! You can leave right now if you like Daniel!''

''Ah no please don't kick me out'' Daniel begged and already he knew he was falling back into Sean's grip and he hated it

''Kneel before me and say ''I'm sorry Sir'' then you can stay''

Daniel was very reluctant to do this. He was also very angry

''Go on boy what are you waiting for? Or maybe you want to go and pack now?''

Angrily Daniel got to his knees before Sean ''I am sorry Sir'' he said bitterly

''Its ok i forgive you boy. Well maybe i forgive you. I am still angry with you for a lot of things Daniel. you know?''

''Yes Sir i know'' Daniel said and he wanted to add that he was also very angry with Sean but he somehow bit his tongue

''What are your plans, now that you're the head monk, Sir?'' Stuart asked Sean

''Well one thing is we need to start making more money here'' Sean said ''We need to encourage people who visit to donate more to us''

''Well what will we do with that money Sir?'' Jeremy asked

''I will decide by myself what to do with all donations'' Sean said





At Grange Road Sandra was settling in as the new headteacher and Alan was settling in as the deputy headteacher. Together they were keen to repair all the damage Sean had done to the school. They were also friendly with Mrs Marsden at Waterloo Hill and they discussed some plans with her

''So i was thinking since the kids from both schools suffered Sean's abuse maybe we could do something together for the kids from both the schools'' Sandra said to Marsden

''Its a good idea but what could we do?'' Marsden asked

''I was thinking a joint disco'' Sandra said ''Both schools together. Also since Grange Road is only boys i think its nice for them to mix with girls sometimes''

''Yes its a nice idea'' Marsden agreed ''Lets do it. The kids deserve something to help them have fun and move on from Sean''





At the monastery an elderly couple came to the chapel to pray and Sean pounced on them. Daniel was near by watching and listening

''How often do you come here to pray?'' Sean asked the elderly couple

''We come every week'' the woman said

''And do you make a donation?'' Sean asked

''Yes of course we always make a donation'' the man said

''And how much do you donate?'' Sean demanded

''Oh about £10 each time i think'' they said

''Not enough!'' Sean told them urgently ''Don't forget you are both sinners and you must repent and the Lord expects you to repent by paying me a lot more than £10''

''Oh but how much should we pay you then?'' the woman asked alarmed

''Well do you have any savings?''

''Yes we have over £150,000 in savings''

''In that case pay me the lot and that will do for a start!''

The poor elderly couple both gasped in shock and horror

''All of our savings?'' the man said nearly in tears ''But surely the Lord doesn't really expect us to do that? We've worked hard all our lives to save up for our retirement''

''No sadly i am telling you if you want forgiveness for all your sins you want to pay me all of your savings'' Sean said sternly

''But what will we do after that?'' the old woman asked

''Next if you own a house sell that too and give the money to me!''

''But where will we live! We'll be homeless and poor by then''

''Yes and the Lord demands this. You must sell all your possessions and home, give all the money to me, and live in poverty and misery until you die. Its the only way''

Daniel was horrified and he rushed over at once

''No don't listen to him'' he told the poor scared old couple ''He is a liar and a greedy evil man who just wants you to give him all your money so he can keep it for himself''

''Daniel shut up now!'' Sean demanded

''No i will not shut up!'' Daniel said furiously ''I can't stand by and let you con these poor old people like this. You have to stop this Sean i am telling you now its not on and i will not stand by and let you do this''

''You stupid little bastard i will flog your back until i take all your skin off'' Sean said to Daniel

The elderly couple gasped with shock at Sean's nasty temper, swearing and threats of violence

''Well i think we'd better go now'' the man said ''You're not like that nice man who used to be in charge here are you!''

''If you want to come back then next time you come here you better bring all your savings for me or else you will not be allowed back'' Sean told them as they started to leave

''Its ok i think perhaps we'll find somewhere else to go and never come back here'' the woman told him and they fled fast



Later Daniel told the other monks what had happened

''That was the Thompson's you scared away'' Stuart told Sean ''You should not have frightened them like that''

''They are a harmless old couple who have been coming here to pray for over 20 years now!'' Jeremy said in distress ''I am not impressed that they may never come back now thanks to you Sean''

Sean was quickly getting angry again ''I told you all to call me Sir'' he said ''And do not argue with me and criticize me. The fact is the Thompson's will give me their life savings if they want to come back here''

''But what will you do with their money?'' William asked ''I feel like its not right to take all their money really''

''It is correct to take it and trust me i will use it well!'' Sean said ''And now for arguing with me you will all be flogged hard as punishment!''

Sean made the monks line up to be flogged and he flogged Daniel the hardest. Daniel screamed in agony as Sean roasted his butt with the hardest of floggings

''Bad boy Daniel!'' he told him

''PLEASE SIR STOP!'' Daniel begged after the flogging had gone on for way too long and he could not take anymore

''Now i want you all to kneel on the floor for worship'' Sean told them

The monks went to their knees. Daniel struggled to his knees while in a lot of pain

''So now we will worship the Lord!'' Jeremy said with joy

''Yes and from now on i am the Lord here!'' Sean said ''SO it is me you will worship''

''No is this a joke?'' Stuart asked ''We do respect you as head monk but we cannot worship you. We can only worship God''

''But i am God here now men!'' Sean said ''So worship me now!''

The monks refused to worship Sean

''We will not do it'' Daniel said

''Ok in that case you will all lie face down on the floor and stay like that for 24 hours'' Sean told them ''Punishment so that you can have a think about your behavior''

''You're mad we can't lie face down for that long'' William protested

''Why not?''

''Well its way too long. We usually only do it for an hour or two at a time. What about food, drink, going to the toilet during the next 24 hours?''

''You will go without food and drink and if you need the toilet do it on the floor'' Sean told them

''You're crazy you're not fit to be the head monk'' Stuart said

''Just obey'' Sean demanded ''Or i'll punish you worse or kick you out of here''

The monks were angry but they obeyed

The monks spent a very uncomfortable 24 hours lying face down on a wooden floor while Sean amused himself watching them and eating nice food and drinking whisky and wine

''I am ordering delicious food for myself from now on'' Sean told them after ''I will dine on luxury food and you lot can stick to your bread cheese and soup and every night you will all sleep on the floor!''





''I think we made a big mistake voting for Sean as the head monk'' William said with sorrow when they were all sitting down together later, after the 24 hours had ended, without Sean

''I tried to warn you but none of you, except Stuart, would listen to me'' Daniel said ''I truly resent how Sean has come here and started controlling us and ruining this place. I knew he'd do that''

''Well i think we need to get rid of him and quickly'' Jeremy said ''There is no way he can stay here''

''Yes i agree but how will we get rid of him?'' Daniel said ''i know what he is like he won't go willingly now that he has control over this place''





Sean invited a group of priests and other religious authority figures to the monastery for a chat

''So what i want to do here is make this monastery the most famous monastery in the world'' he told them

''And how will you do that?'' a priest asked intrigued

''There will be a lot of fundraising going on. Charity events here, concerts. We'll make sure everyone around the world knows about us and we will bring the Lord to everyone's attention'' Sean said ''We will raise hundreds of thousands of pounds for charitable causes that way. All money to be paid directly to me of course for i know how to use it wisely''

The priests and other religious authority figures all beamed with delight ''What a wonderful idea'' one of them said and was impressed ''I really think you will be great for the future of the monastery and for religion in general!''

''Yes of course. So i have all your support then?''

''You sure do Mr Lewis. We like your radical and exciting ideas and we're very happy that you're in control of the monastery now!''

''Excellent!'' Sean said





The disco took place for the two schools and it happened at Waterloo Hill

Most of the boys from Grange Road and the boys and Girls from Waterloo Hill were all very happy and in the mood for fun at their disco. But not everyone. Abigail for a start wasn't feeling very happy. Stephen was still locked up for Reece's murder

''Inspector Grace lied to us about locking Sean up'' she told some of the others ''Steve is still locked up and Sean went away a free man''

The others were angry too

''Yes its not right that Lewis got away free'' Callum said

''Its good that he is gone from Grange Road for good and will never work in a school again'' Liam said ''But he is still out there free and can go somewhere else and create more hell. I bet even as we speak he is plotting something somewhere and its not right''

''We only got a partial victory and Sean a partial punishment'' Louis said sadly ''I'd be much happier if he was also locked up now''

''Yes we all would be happier if that was so'' Abi said ''Especially me and my poor brother''

They tried their best to enjoy the disco. But it was hard to be totally happy when they knew that Sean hadn't received the proper justice. Only partial. They had got rid of him but they hadn't put him behind bars

''You never know maybe someone else will succeed in putting him behind bars?'' Liam said hopefully

''Maybe but i doubt it'' Callum said dismally





Sean invited Freddie to the monastery for dinner that night. While Daniel and the other monks were sitting in the lounge feeling miserable Sean was enjoying a feast of delicious food and wine with Freddie

Until now Freddie had no idea where Sean had gone after he left Grange Road so it had been quite a surprise to receive a phone call inviting him to dinner at the monastery

''Sean forgive me for asking this but what the heck are you doing here?'' he asked while he enjoyed the food ''I mean since when have you been religious?''

And Sean began to answer, sure that the other monks were far away over the other side of the building in the lounge out of earshot

''Fred this is all part of my plan to try again to have proper power in the world'' Sean began ''For now i will have power here. But later i will go for prime minister again, and then world president again, i will do it and succeed next time''

Sean's ambitious plans for world domination were no surprise to Freddie. He had shared them with him many times. But Freddie never took it very seriously he just humored Sean

''But how?'' Freddie asked ''I don't see how you can do it now after the whole thing went so badly wrong at Grange Road''

''Its easy i will gain the trust of influential and powerful people through religion'' Sean said ''i will be the perfect monk, i will be a saint, i will tell everyone i want to save the world and everyone in it. I will draw attention to this monastery and make it a very famous place. And everyone will trust me and think i am their savior. Don't you see this is the perfect way to get the power i want? By making people believe that i am a saint. Oh its great it really is. I am pleased i came here to see Daniel again! Now he and the other monks will help me achieve my dreams whether they like it or not''

''And what if it doesn't work?'' Freddie asked ''It might easily go wrong like it did at Grange Road''

''It it goes wrong i will still unleash hell on the earth. I will start by punishing Daniel and the other monks and then go from there''

''Your plans are so ambitious and crazy Sean''

''But i will achieve these plans Freddie. Really i will. This time i have the Lord on my side, or so everyone will believe when i fool them. But then the world will find out who the Lord really is. I will be their Lord!''

Sean had no idea that Daniel was listening to every word he said from the pitch black corridor outside. He had quietly sneaked there to listen because he wanted to hear what Sean would say to his guest. He knew Sean would reveal his evil plans to his dinner guest and he had been right. Now Daniel knew for sure that Sean had very evil motives behind his desire to be the head monk





The next morning Daniel and the other monks were singing solemn Gregorian chants in the chapel. Daniel was weeping as he sang the chants. They were always very moving and poignant

Then Sean came into the chapel and the monks at once were fearful

''Sir we're just chanting like we do every morning'' Jeremy said '''Please don't stop us Sir''

To their surprise Sean just smiled and spoke nicely ''It's ok men i won't try to stop you'' he said ''I really have no objections to you singing your Gregorian chants every morning. Its really rather beautiful''

''What a relief and thank you Sir'' William said ''We were scared you might try to stop us''

Sean just knelt down to listen to the chanting much to their surprise





''Well maybe Sean isn't really as bad as we feared then'' Jeremy said later when the monks had a coffee break

''Are you joking or what?'' Daniel said incredulous

''Well he is letting us sing our chants and he even knelt to listen to us'' William said ''See he isn't so bad''

Daniel was frustrated by how easily the others could change their mind and give Sean the benefit of the doubt. All he had to do was throw them a few crumbs of kindness and they lapped it up and decided Sean wasn't so bad after all. Well Daniel wasn't as gullible as they were





Next Sean had another bombshell for the monks

''I want to open a factory and workshops here to make things'' he told them. Now he was planning to do, to the monks, the same thing he had done to the boys at the school. Make them into slaves to make a profit for himself

''But what things will we make Sir?'' Stuart asked

''Bibles. crosses, a whole bunch of stuff about God of course'' Sean said ''We will sell this stuff worldwide to bring the attention of the Lord to the world''

The monks beamed with joy ''Oh you saint Sir!'' William said ''Oh what a wonderful idea!''

''I expect you all to work your fingers to the bone in the workshops of course'' Sean told them ''We must put out a lot of orders every day and make a lot of money. All money is to be paid directly to me so that i can decide what best to do with it''

''Keep it all for yourself you mean?'' Daniel said

''No of course not Daniel'' Sean said sweetly ''You really have me all wrong my boy''





That night Daniel couldn't sleep. It was hard sleeping on the floor anyway but he also couldn't sleep because he was too worried about Sean and his plans.He knew he had to stop him somehow and get rid of him. But the other monks, except maybe Stuart, would not help. They were already being brainwashed by Sean

Daniel got up and walked around the cold dark monastery for a while. He was limping badly. His leg was hurting a lot tonight and he cursed Sean for breaking it

He walked close to Sean's bedroom and to his alarm he heard screaming and shouting inside. He quietly opened the door a little and looked in and there was Sean thrashing around. in the dark, in the bed having a bad dream

''NO NO GO AWAY LEAVE ME ALONE!'' he cried. It startled Daniel and it was very creepy to see Sean in that state and hear him shouting out. It seemed like whatever he was dreaming about it was pretty bad

The fact was that every night Sean was having night terrors. In the day time he was always cool and calm and had everything together, But in the night time he was scared to go to sleep and have another scary night. Every night he was being visited and tormented by the ''demons'' Well Sean liked to think of them as demons but actually it was just all the people he had killed visiting him to haunt him and warn him that he would pay for killing them

''You will be punished in hell for killing us!'' James said angrily in the dream ''God is very angry with you!''

''No its not true!'' Sean cried out ''Go away all of you!''

Sean woke up in distress again. Daniel closed the door quickly and stayed outside the room

''I know this is all in my mind that is all'' he heard Sean saying ''They aren't really there''





The next morning the monks were singing their haunting Gregorian chants again when Sean arrived and knelt down and to their amazement he started to join in with the singing!

Daniel looked at him while he was singing and noticed that he had tears streaming down his face and they seemed genuine. Daniel was wondering what was going on with Sean. To see him join in with the chanting and even cry as well. It was strange





Later that day Sean was alone in the chapel and Daniel, who had been keeping an eye on him all day, went to the chapel to talk to him

''Do you have anything on your mind?'' he asked Sean

''Like what boy?'' Sean said

''I don't know, Sir, but i couldn't help noticing you didn't seem yourself today. Joining in the chanting and even crying seems very out of character''

Sean didn't really want to reveal his weaknesses to Daniel, and certainly didn't know if he could trust him, but he needed to talk to someone and Daniel was the only person available right now

''Look if i tell you something you have to keep it to yourself ok?'' he said

''Yes Sir anything you say will stay between the two of us i swear'' Daniel said solemnly

Then Sean poured his heart out to Daniel who listened in silence ''I've killed people Daniel, lots of people, and i never cared or felt remorse. Not until now that is. You see now they are all haunting me in my dreams. They come and visit me every night and they won't go away. They torment me and tell me i will suffer for what i've done. The thing is, Daniel, i've never believed in God but now i'm not so sure. I don't know if its being here in a monastery that is the cause of this but i am beginning to feel very genuine remorse for my sins and all the murders i committed and i am beginning to wonder if God is watching me and he wants me to repent''

''Well he will most certainly be expecting you to repent there is no doubt about that'' Daniel said ''All i can suggest is you go to the police and confess''

''No way'' Sean said and shook his head angrily ''If i do that it means prison for life and i do not want that Daniel''

''So how remorseful are you really then? You don't want to confess and take the punishment so it seems to me you can't really be all that remorseful''

''Look i just want to repent and be forgiven by God, i mean if he really is there. You know i don't know for sure i just want to get right with him just in case. I do not plan to confess to the police and go to prison I still have many plans for my life. I'm just looking at this from the religious aspect, and repenting only to God, and what would you advise me to do Daniel?''

''I see'' Daniel replied ''Well let me think about this for a moment...''
