Sean was thinking about what to say to Matthew and he thought of something. He smiled at Matthew ''If you kill me you'll never get out of prison then. You do know that three murders counts as a serial killer? They won't let you out ever if you kill me and make it three''
Matthew just shrugged ''Yeah well we both know i didn't kill James and Mrs Clements don't we. If i kill you its only one person i've killed and since i'm already taking the blame for 2 killings i didn't do it doesn't seem like a big deal if i actually commit a murder. At least that way i will actually be serving life in prison for being a murderer for real''
''Yes but because they think you killed 2 people already it means you will be in prison for life without parole so kill me and you are seriously screwed''
''I'm screwed already. if i really have to stay in prison for life then i'm damn well going to kill the man who put me there to begin with. I don't mind doing hard jail time for something i have done, its being jailed for something i haven't done that i object to. So if i kill you it will be worth it''
''Well look i'll confess ok'' a desperate Sean said ''I already told you i am willing to do that now. Call the police, ask them to send Inspector Grace here right now and i will confess now. I know Grace will be only too happy to nail me at last'' For Sean the idea of confessing was horrendous but what else could he say or do right now?
Matthew just shook his head mournfully ''Father i already told you, regretfully, that it is not an option. Its a nice idea but it wouldn't work. The police would only say i forced the confession out of you. You could be lying just to save yourself from their point of view. Sorry but i simply have to kill you for my revenge its the only way''
Sean got down on his knees. What a shocking change. Sean was used to having people kneel before him he wasn't used to being the one kneeling
''Please Matthew, my son, i am sorry and forgive me huh? Listen boy i will pay for you, your mother and your Nan, to escape abroad. Anywhere in the world you want to go i'll pay i swear''
Now Matthew was considering this tempting offer. He really wanted to shoot and kill his father but he had to admit that the offer to escape abroad was tempting. And for Sean to even offer for Louise and Matthew's Nan to go too was even better. Matthew had to admit to himself that he liked this offer and he wanted to take it. It was a good way for Sean to make up for everything he had done and maybe this way he didn't need to kill him for revenge. And Matthew didn't really want to go back to prison
But then, on the other hand, Matthew wasn't so sure about spending the rest of his life on the run. Always having to look over his shoulder. Always having to watch out and be careful. Spending all his life on the run as an escaped prisoner would not be easy. It would be stressful and he was sure his mother wouldn't cope with it as she was an anxious person at the best of times. Being on the run would make her a nervous wreck. And was it really fair to expect an old woman his Nan's age to leave the life she had always known and go running off?
Now he was sure his Nan wouldn't even agree to go and Louise would probably go with him but hate it. He decided he would have to go alone. It wasn't fair to take them too
''I'll accept the offer but i won't take my mother or my Nan i'll go alone'' he told Sean
''Fair enough''
''I want to go to South America. Tonight you will start making the necessary arrangements i want to leave asap and not hang around here longer than i have to''
Now Matthew was rather excited about it all. Despite his initial doubts and fears he was now warming to the idea. It was exciting and he was sure it was a much better option than killing Sean and going back to prison
