Part 18 - THE SUMMER HOLIDAYS Part 2

Stephen and Joe were talking on the beach

''Oh its so good to see you i've missed you'' Stephen said

''I've missed you too'' Joe said ''Why did you leave Grange Road and how did your parents find out about us?''

''I left because my parents wanted to split us up and they found out because Lewis told them''

Joe was surprised and angry ''Lewis did but why?''

Stephen explained to him that Lewis had seen him talking to Inspector Grace

''So i took a risk and i wasn't careful so he saw me and punished us'' Stephen said mournfully''

''But now thanks to him we're apart''

''Yes exactly''

''How is it at Waterloo Hill anyway?'' Joe asked

Stephen answered honestly ''It's better than Grange Road, to be honest. But I found out something very disturbing about Mr Lewis too. If what I was told is true, and I think it probably is, then you've got big trouble at Grange Road''

Joe was intrigued

''So do you have any idea who might have had a motive to kill your wife?'' Grace asked Sean

Sean just shook his head ''No idea''

''Well we don't seem to be getting very far here do we?'' Grace said with a sigh

''Look if i knew anything of course i wouldn't hesitate to tell you'' Sean said ''I'll do all i can to help of course''

''Well right now you're the only suspect Mr Lewis''

Sean was trying hard to keep calm. There was no point losing it in front of Grace

''Look i did not kill my wife ok!''

''Not even for her money? All 1 million of it''

''I didn't even know she had all that money i swear''

Grace just looked amused ''Come on now Mr Lewis you really expect me to believe that you didn't know about it?''

''Well its the truth she never told me!''

''And you had no idea she recently changed her will to leave it all to you?''

''None at all!''

Grace just smiled at Sean and stared at him for a moment. Sean felt very uncomfortable

''I am aware that Judith has a son called Liam'' Grace said at last ''Where is he now?''

''Well he lives here with us but he isn't here right now''

Sean looked at the clock ''He should be home by now actually''

Sean had been so busy with Grace he had lost track of time and had forgotten that Liam and Matthew were due back. Why was Louise late back? She never usually dared to be late

''Well i'll leave it to you to tell him'' Grace said and stood up

Sean was relieved. At last the inspector was leaving

''Well goodnight Mr Lewis'' Grace said

''Yes goodnight''

''I expect i'll be back soon''

''Oh will you?''

''Yes of course. We still have to investigate the murder and like i said already right now you're our only suspect''
