Now that Sean had successfully punished Billy he wanted to focus on his future plans for Grange Road and Agatha was also very keen to do that
''When will the workshops be opening to put those boys to work?'' Agatha asked him
''Very soon now'' he told her with excitement ''The builders have almost finished''
''Well we can start the boxing matches soon too'' Agatha continued ''Mark is coming along well training the boys''
''Yes i know. It will be excellent when we start the boxing matches''
''And what about the boarding school Sean? You need to start getting that set up''
''Yes i'm going to do that very soon too. I'm excited and curious to see how many of the boys will be boarding here. How many parents will be happy to get rid of their sons and give them to us for good? It will be interesting to see''
They both laughed
Owen and Lorraine had been at the school for a while now. But neither of them had done much to catch the attention of the others. They had arrived at a very difficult time, right in the middle of the serial killings, and so no one had paid them much attention. Also Lorraine had decided to get on with her work quietly and not make waves. She really wanted to keep this job and not get fired so she had been concentrating on working hard and not drawing attention to herself
Owen was just aloof with the other boys and angry about being at the school. He kept himself to himself and made very little effort to make friends
Josh and Ryan were interested in Owen because he was a new boy and they wanted to know more about him so they sent Callum to talk to him
''Suss him out for us'' Josh ordered Callum ''Find out what he is like. If he could be part of our gang or not''
''Now that Billy is gone we need a new prefect to replace him and we want to see if Owen is suitable'' Ryan said
''No worries'' Callum said and during lunch he went to find Owen. Owen was sitting alone, as usual, on the school playing field when Callum found him
''Hi Owen'' he said
''What do you want?'' Owen asked in a very offhand way
''Just thought i'd come and say hello. You keep to yourself and i thought maybe i would try and make friends''
''Yeah well i don't need friends and i prefer to be alone so get lost''
''Now come on Owen'' Callum said ''An attitude like that won't get you very far will it?''
Owen shrugged ''So i don't even care''
Callum persevered even though Owen was making it very difficult for him ''So how are you finding it at this school so far?''
''It sucks. I hate it here. I don't like the headmaster much''
Callum grinned ''No one likes him but it can be ok here if you're a prefect like i am''
''I wish my mother had let me go to Waterloo Hill i didn't even want to come here'' Owen said in a whiny voice and it appeared as if he was about to cry
Callum had made up his mind about Owen. He was now sure Owen was weak and would not be prefect material. He would only be useful as a victim of the protection racket
''Don't worry Owen you'll have plenty of fun here'' Callum said with a grin
''What sort of fun?''
