Part 49 - SERIAL KILLER Part 4

Sean hardly had time to take in the devastating news when Grace arrested him on suspicion of being the killer

''You've been my number 1 suspect since day one'' Grace told him when they were in the interview room  at the police station

Sean wasn't in his usual arrogant or smug mood today. No smirking or playing. He was very subdued and devastated by Sally's murder

''We both know you can't possibly have any evidence against me'' he said ''And don't try to make out like the bloody gloves are evidence''

''True i don't have any evidence yet but i'm sure its you doing the killings''

''Ok so why would i murder Sally then? Ask any of the staff at the school. I was in love with her and i was going to marry her so why the fuck would i kill her?''

Grace shrugged ''Maybe you had a fight and you lost your temper and killed her?''

''And why would i kill Jake and Craig?''

''Maybe they did something to upset you too. Maybe Jake, Craig and Sally all upset you so you killed them''

Sean shook his head in anger. Then he thought of something

''I tell you what Inspector. I can think of another suspect. Cynthia could have done it''

He quickly explained Cynthia's motive for killing Sally

''I see yes'' Grace said ''You two timing devil Sean! So i would agree Cynthia would have a motive to kill Sally but i hardly see her killing the two boys. They were strong healthy boys and i don't see a woman like her being strong enough to kill them. These murders were all carried out by the same person because the method used is identical in all three you see''

''Maybe she had a male accomplice?'' Sean suggested but even he didn't really believe she would have

''And what would be her motive for killing the boys? We know her motive for killing Sally but what about them?''

''Well she doesn't really like the boys much. She always complains about them and she approves of harsh treatment and discipline for them. Anyway i thought most serial killers do it because they get a thrill out of it, they enjoy it? So maybe she just enjoys killing. The woman is a fruit-loop anyway''

Grace decided that Cynthia, although not as strong a suspect as Sean, was a valid suspect and so she would need to be interviewed

While Grace was interviewing Sean his sidekick Sergeant Walker was talking to the staff at the school

''Well i just don't believe that Sean could have killed Sally'' Alan said ''He seemed so much in love with her''

''I agree'' Mark said ''How could they be engaged and in love one second and the next he kills her?''

Even Sandra, as much as she hated Sean, had to admit it seemed unlikely that he killed Sally. She also remembered the state Cynthia had been in and the threats she had made

'Sergeant i have some information you should probably know about'' she said ''Cynthia was very angry with Sean and Sally and she made threats about them. She said to me that she wanted to kill them both''

Walker raised an eyebrow ''Did she really?''

Later on Grace and Walker met up to talk

''Well i just don't know about Sean anymore'' Grace said with a sigh ''I tell you i had him down as the number 1 suspect but after seeing the way he was today i am almost convinced he couldn't have killed Sally and if he didn't kill her he didn't kill the boys either because we know the three of them were killed by the same person''
