❝ A flashback of our kiss in the rain.❞

"Ella, are you in here?" Ominis's voice called from behind the curtains of our sleeping compartment.

"Poppy told me you wanted to stay on the couch, but you weren't there. So please, don't tell me you're sleeping with my brother..." he pleaded.

Marvolo swiftly pulled the curtains open, holding them just enough to shield me from view.

"You're ruining my beauty sleep."

He smirked, pressing a hand over my mouth to stifle my laughter and keep me from giving away my hiding spot.

"Marvolo... is Ella with you?" Ominis asked politely.

"No, I haven't seen her. Last I checked, she was sleeping on the couch. Maybe she went for a morning walk. You might want to check outside," he replied nonchalantly before shutting the curtains again.

Ominis let out a sigh before reopening them. "I've already been outside. She left with you last night. Did something happen between you two?"

I bit my lip, trying to hold back my laughter, as Marvolo pressed his hand harder against my mouth, side-eyeing me in warning.

"Honestly, Gaunt, I have no idea. It's too early for a game of Sherlock Holmes, alright? Just relax, have some coffee—she'll be back soon!" Marvolo chuckled, closing the curtains once more.

I listened as Ominis's footsteps faded into the distance. Only then did Marvolo remove his hand from my mouth. He grabbed my arm, pulling me against him with a mischievous grin.

I smiled up at him as he leaned in and whispered, "Ominis asked if something happened between us... did it?"

I shook my head. "Not that I know of..."

His smirk deepened as he lowered his head for a kiss.

Before things could escalate, I peeked through the curtains to make sure Ominis was really gone.

Alright, coast is clear. Time to move.

I slipped out, heading straight for the small kitchen area. Pretending to look for food, I rummaged through the cabinets and drawers, the soft clinking of cutlery filling the quiet space. Every now and then, I glanced over my shoulder to ensure I was still in the clear.

Bending down, I stuck my head into the fridge, scanning its contents. When I shut the door—

"OMINIS!"

I screeched, practically jumping out of my skin.

He stood there, arms crossed, leaning casually against the fridge with his fingers tapping against his arm in quiet impatience.

"Where were you, Ella?" His tone was firm, serious.

Shit. I hadn't prepared an excuse. Marvolo's story might work, but if I repeated it, Ominis would definitely get suspicious. I had to think fast—what was something I would actually do this early in the morning on a camping trip?

I straightened my posture, took a breath, and confidently said, "I was checking on my animals."

His head tilted slightly in curiosity. "So you went into your Niffler sack?"

I quickly nodded, flashing him a smile.

"You're doing it again, Ella. When will you remember that I can't see what you're doing? I'm blind, woman. Use your words."
