❝You're still breathing. That's me being nice, asshole❞

-The past-
Year 1890 - Lleida spain - Angella's room
;Small POV of Marvolo before he finds Angella in Spain;
~Marvolo's POV~
After Angella slammed me into the wall with her ancient magic and told me about the choice I had taken from her, I knew I'd lost her trust again. She told me she needed a partner who stood beside her, not above her.
And I just messed it up.
I stopped her from killing my father because I thought I was protecting her. I thought I was being smart. Strategic. His people would've found traces of her magic on the body, power like hers doesn't just vanish. They would've hunted her down, tortured her for it, maybe worse. I wanted to keep her safe.
But she didn't see it that way, she saw control and betrayal.
And maybe... maybe she was right.
I watched her walk away from me.. wand trembling in her hand, tears falling down her cheeks. Not just from grief but from rage. She didn't cry because she only lost Sebastian. She cried because she realized she couldn't trust me.
It wasn't the first time I saw it in her eyes, the disappointment.
After everything we were.. she looked at me like I was just another Gaunt. Another cage she needed to escape from.
And then she burned the contract.
The paper ignited turning to ash right in front of me.
That night, I didn't sleep. I stood in the ruins of the Undercroft, the smoke still clinging to my cloak, staring at where she'd disappeared. Her magic lingered sweet and bitter, like wine gone bad. I told myself I wouldn't follow her. That if she needed space, I'd give it.
That I wasn't that man.. or maybe i was.
And three days later, I was already in Spain. She was standing barefoot on her balcony, bathed in that golden dusk light like some kind of goddess. realising I'd made a mistake far bigger than stopping her. I hadn't lost her when I stopped the kill. I lost her the moment I made the choice for her.
And now.. now she looked like she was ready to destroy me for it.
Perhaps she would?
Maybe I deserve it, but my angel wouldn't come that far.

~Angella's POV~
The balcony doors were open, letting in the Spanish warm evening air. I stood barefoot, watching the sunset on the fields, trying to pretend I was at peace. Wearing my blue jeans and white heart shaped top. Hair curly and stuffed into a lose ponytail. And my heartbeat had betrayed me the moment I felt it.
That pull.
That whisper of magic in the air that didn't belong to this place.
"Hello Darling," said a voice behind me.
I froze.
Slowly, I turned.
Marvolo Gaunt leaned against the doorframe of my room like he'd never left my side. His sleeves were rolled, Tattoos visible, his wand nowhere in sight, but his presence was a weapon all its own. Hair tousled. Eyes dark. Lips curled in that lazy smirk that made my blood turn to ice and fire all at once.
