❝look at you, so small and cute.. And yet such a big mouth❞

\When I woke up, the searing pain in my abdomen was the first thing I felt. The sharp, gut-wrenching reminder that everything was real. A part of me wanted to slip back into unconsciousness, to escape it all.

For days, I had been in and out of awareness, slipping between reality and nothingness. The pain was relentless, keeping me trapped in a cycle of brief awakenings followed by the overwhelming pull of exhaustion.

Sometimes, I heard voices—muffled conversations, worried murmurs, the sound of people moving around me. But I never listened. I couldn't. The agony in my body was all-consuming.

I hadn't dreamed it, had I?

The last thing I remembered was Angella cradling me, sobbing uncontrollably, screaming at me to keep breathing. Her voice, filled with desperation, was the last sound I heard before everything went dark.

Now, as my eyes fluttered open, I caught sight of familiar brown eyes staring at me from across the room. My head pounded, a dull ache forming behind my temples, and I squeezed my eyes shut again. My stomach twisted violently. A wave of nausea surged through me, and I barely managed to turn onto my side before vomiting onto the floor.

A hand landed on my back, and I heard a sharp gasp.

"Sebastian!" Anne's voice cracked as she cried out. "Nurse Blainey! He's awake!"

Her fingers wrapped around my hand, stroking it gently. "I was so worried," she whispered.

The nurse hurried over, gathering her medical supplies. She pressed two fingers to my wrist, checking my pulse, then listened to my heartbeat with a relieved sigh. "He's in the clear, for now," she muttered.

"Thank Merlin," Anne exhaled, squeezing my fingers.

I tried to sit up, but Nurse Blainey placed a firm hand on my chest, pushing me back down. "You need to stay still, Mr. Sallow. Your injuries aren't fully healed. I'll get some potions to help with the pain." She turned to her medicine cabinet.

"Anne..." My voice came out hoarse and weak as I squeezed her hand.

"Don't talk yet, Sebastian," she scolded gently. "Let Nurse Blainey do her job. You just woke up. Healing comes first."

Her fingers moved to my hair, stroking it softly, grounding me.

How the hell did I survive?

Mr. Gaunt stabbed me—more than once. I felt every single thrust of that sword as I shielded Angella, every brutal slice against my back. It should have been enough to kill me.

So why was I still here?

Nurse Blainey returned with a small basket filled with potions and a syringe. "Alright, Mr. Sallow, since you're awake, I'm going to set up an IV and give you something for the pain." She took my right hand, her fingers tapping gently against my veins.

"Make a fist for me, please?"

I did as she asked, watching as she carefully inserted the needle. The syringe was massive, nearly the size of a Wiggenweld bottle, and she connected it to a strange-looking machine. She injected clear liquid into it, then patted my shoulder. "This should start working within a minute. Try to relax."

Anne hovered nearby, her concern evident. "What are you giving him, Nurse Blainey?"

"As a medic, I experiment with different healing methods," she explained with a reassuring smile. "This is a rare mixture I've perfected over time. It'll help ease his pain."
