❝Tonight I wasn't just an angel, nor was I a devil❞
______________________________
With the sketches in hand, I hurried toward Hogsmeade. The outfit I had in mind was far from ordinary—it needed to be bold, striking, and even intimidating. Since I would be on stage, my attire had to be the most breathtaking of the night. Marvolo and I had agreed within seconds on our duo ensemble; it was either this or something plain, and we refused to blend in. With it being Marvolo's final year at Hogwarts and my first Halloween party there, we were determined to make an entrance as the king and queen of the evening. After tonight, no one would dare challenge us.
And, of course, I wanted Sebastian to regret every bad decision he had ever made.
As we stepped into Gladrags Wizardwear, the small bell above the door chimed, signaling our arrival. My eyes were immediately drawn to the exquisite jewelry displayed in one of the glass cabinets. I studied it closely, admiring the craftsmanship.
"Good afternoon, students!" Augustus Hill greeted us enthusiastically, clapping his hands together. "How can I be of service?"
"Good afternoon, Mr. Hill. We're here for a special occasion," Marvolo began.
"Ah, Mr. Gaunt! A pleasure to see you again. Are you having trouble with your suits again?"
"No, thank Merlin, they're still in perfect condition after your last fitting. This time, I have a special request for the Halloween party."
"A Halloween party at Hogwarts? How delightful! I can certainly work some magic. Let's see what you've designed this time," Augustus said with a warm chuckle.
"It's not for me this time, sir. It's for my, uh..." I hesitated, glancing over my shoulder at Marvolo, who looked just as uncertain as I was.
What was I to him in this moment?
Friend? Fellow student? Girlfriend? Princess? Queen? Baby? Family? Love? Fiancée? Future wife?
Before I could settle on an answer, he placed a reassuring hand on my back and guided me toward Augustus. "The design is for my date, actually. I'll cover the cost of the materials," he said smoothly, flashing me a smile. "Angel, I want you to meet—"
"Miss Angella Delgado! It's been a while," Augustus interrupted, reaching out to shake my hand. His expression radiated genuine gratitude.
I returned his smile and shook his hand politely. "Hello, Mr. Hill. It certainly has been."
"You two know each other?" Marvolo asked, puzzled.
"Of course I do! This lovely young lady helped protect my shop last year. That dreadful troll attack still haunts me. I'll never forget how you came to our aid, along with the other shopkeepers."
Marvolo's eyes widened. "You did?"
I nodded. "It wasn't a big deal, really."
"Nonsense!" Augustus laughed heartily. "You were the hero of the day! You took down an armored troll and restored the damage. You deserve an award for that."
I blushed at the compliment. "That's very kind of you, Mr. Hill. Thank you."
"So, let me see the design," he said, shifting back to business. I handed him the drawing, and he studied it before nodding. "I'll need to check if I have the fabric in stock. Give me a moment." With that, he disappeared into the back.
Beside me, Marvolo continued to gaze at me with admiration.
"What?" I asked, feeling my cheeks warm under his stare.
