❝Be careful guys, I don't know what happens if it-❞

After our visit to my vivarium, we made our way to the dungeons. It was time for our first class of the new term—potions.

Both Ominis and I were relieved we had studied ahead, knowing this wouldn't be an easy class. As soon as we entered, he quickly found his usual seat, laying out his books and scanning through them once more. Potions was one of the most challenging subjects for him, and he was determined to pass this year. I was glad I could help him prepare.

I took my usual seat at a three-person table, positioned near a stack of kettles to my right. It was exactly how I liked it—quiet and peaceful.

After shrugging off my robe and draping it over my chair, I searched through my bag for my books. The classroom was always unbearably warm from the burning fires, so I was grateful for my choice of attire—a fitted white blouse tucked into a gray-silver skirt, a few buttons left undone at the top, my Slytherin tie loosely knotted, and leggings to keep my legs warm. Around my neck, I wore the necklace my brother had given me, and my hair cascaded freely over my shoulders.

Footsteps approached, followed by the sound of a chair scraping against the stone floor and a soft creak as someone sat beside me. Assuming it was Sebastian, I kept my gaze down, still fuming from earlier.

"Why are you ignoring me, Delgado?" The voice was unfamiliar—lower, lighter.

I looked up, startled, to find Garreth Weasley sitting beside me with a curious expression.

"So you can hear me after all," he teased, setting his books on the table.

"I'm sorry, I thought you were someone else," I said quickly, placing my own books down.

"Ah, you thought I was Sallow, didn't you? Well, you're incredibly lucky today because Professor Sharp assigned me this seat, hoping I'd behave for once," he said, a playful smirk forming on his lips.

"I hope he's right," I replied with a small smile.

"I solemnly swear I'll be on my best behavior, Miss Angella Delgado. I'll listen, follow instructions, and be the perfect partner," he declared, placing a hand over his heart as if taking an oath.

I glanced toward Professor Sharp, who was busy organizing ingredients from his drawers, preparing for the lesson.

Garreth and I laughed and chatted as we waited for class to begin. I had spoken to him a few times before but never really got to know him. I quickly discovered he was incredibly funny, and his stories about his disastrous potions experiments had me laughing more than I expected.

He leaned forward, finishing one of his tales.

"So there I was, standing in the middle of the room with a boiling kettle in my hands, my hair wilder than Merlin's, cheeks flustered—and I smelled like troll bogies."

I placed a hand on his arm, giving it a light squeeze as I chuckled. "You must have looked ridiculous."

"I did," he laughed.

A sharp cough interrupted us. I turned to see who was trying to get our attention, only to be met with Sebastian's piercing gaze. His eyes burned with barely contained anger as they flickered between Garreth and me—specifically to my hand resting on Garreth's arm.

I quickly withdrew my hand and straightened in my seat.

Garreth, however, didn't even flinch. He glanced over his shoulder, grinned at Sebastian, and then turned back to me as if nothing had happened.
