I told you to stay put! The throne room?

______________________________

I moved through the dungeon corridor like a shadow slipping between breaths.

This didn't look like the Gaunt manor — too clean, too vast, too alive with the faint hum of enchantments buried in stone.
I had to stay unseen. Every step was a risk, every sound a warning.

I climbed higher, one stair at a time, searching for air that didn't taste of iron and rot — searching for a way to reach Marvolo.

Two ghostfaces descended the stairwell ahead. I pressed myself against the wall, holding my dress tight against my body to keep it from brushing the floor. My heartbeat echoed in my ears.

They passed, chatting idly about the different kinds of butterbeer they'd tasted — ridiculous, human conversation spilling from soulless masks.

When their voices faded, I slipped off my heels and ran — silent, barefoot, the cold stone biting my skin.

I had no wand. No charged ancient magic.
I had only myself.
And for the first time, I understood what it truly meant to live without magic — how fragile the world became when all you had was breath and will.

I dove behind another wall, the heavy door to freedom finally in sight.

"Marvolo?" I whispered through the bond, clutching it like a lifeline.

A beat of silence — then, "Angel?"

Relief broke through my chest. "Can you get me out of here?"

"I'm so glad to hear you, darling. Tell me where they've taken you—"

I scanned the walls. No markings, no sigils. "I don't know. A dungeon somewhere. I escaped. I'll find a clue."

"Please... be careful. I'll be waiting for your call."

Then silence.

I took on my heels and ran for the door, grabbed the handle, and pushed it open slowly. The corridor beyond was empty. I darted out—

—and slammed into a chest hard as stone.

Before I could scream, a hand clamped over my mouth, the other around my waist. I was dragged against the wall, hidden from view.

He lifted his mask — and my stomach dropped.

"Sebastian," I trembled.

he came back for me..

"What in Merlin's name are you doing here?" Sebastian hissed, his voice edged with warning. "You know this is against the rules."

"Well, shit... I was making my escape," I said, shrugging lightly. "Guess rules are meant to be broken."

"Careful," he murmured, his eyes darkening. "Don't throw my own words back at me, sweetheart."

Before i could answer, I reached through the bond again. "Baby?"

"Yes, love?"

"There's an emblem on the wall — a sword and a snake."

A pause, then, "I know where that is. Stay put."

My eyes flicked back to Sebastian. "Let me go."

"You can't. This place is a fortress." He caught my wrist and started dragging me back toward the dungeons. "You're not safe out here."
