❝Besides... only the sixth and seventh years were allowed.❞

As the train pulled into the station, students dressed in their school robes stepped onto the platform, making their way toward the carriages. Excited whispers filled the air as younger students chattered about what they had witnessed during the unexpected stop.

"I heard someone fainted!"

"Alistor swears he saw a Dementor."

"They were searching for a specific male student someone mentioned."

"A professor protected me in one of the toilets."

"I was absolutely terrified..."

"When the lights went out, someone stole my cookies!"

Sebastian, Anne, Ominis, and I walked together along the gravel path, weaving through groups of fourth- and fifth-years. Sebastian led the way while the rest of us followed.

As we passed a Hufflepuff student, Ominis leaned toward them with a mischievous smile. "I heard the person they're looking for is among us. Hiding in a student's body," he said, his tone eerie.

"Really!?" the student gasped in amazement.

"Yes. I believe it's a Slytherin. He roams the halls at night, searching for fellow students to slaughter," Ominis continued, his voice low and dramatic.

The student's eyes widened. "You're joking!"

Ominis shook his head. "Our prefect told me. Apparently, he's after wands... so you'd better stay indoors at night."

The Hufflepuff paled, then darted off to tell their friends, pointing at Ominis as they repeated the story.

Ominis grinned. "Happy Halloween."

Anne shoved him playfully toward a nearby bush. "Stop scaring the younger students!"

His grin widened. "I just enjoy spreading a good rumor. Some Slytherins are still searching for the mermaids in our common room."

To our left, a brown-haired girl clicked her tongue as she walked past, chatting with her friends. "My dad works at the Ministry. He told me over the holiday that they were hunting down some unknown wizard. I knew the Aurors and Dementors would show up."

The girl beside her, with long, curly red hair, nodded. "Well, my dad says they can't tell if it's a witch or a wizard. All they know is this person raids camps, slaughtering wizardingkind. Always wearing a mask and a hood."

Sebastian stopped in his tracks, ears practically twitching as he listened in.

"A mask?" the brown-haired girl asked, her voice sharp with interest. "My dad never mentioned that. What kind of mask?"

They paused in front of a carriage, and the red-haired girl turned to her. "A raven's mask," she said before stepping inside.

"And a black hood," she added from within.

Sebastian immediately turned to me, scanning my face as his brows furrowed. He stepped closer, his voice just loud enough to be heard over the chatter. "Don't tell me it's..." He hesitated.

"Don't be ridiculous," I snapped in a whisper.

"You're the one who wears a—" he started, but I grabbed his tie and yanked him behind a tree.

I pushed him back against it. "Are you trying to get me killed!?" I hissed.

"So it is you they're looking for?" he pressed, his voice still too loud for my liking.
