❝We had a deal, darling❞

I sat on my bed, leaning against the headboard, as Sebastian returned with two cups of coffee. He handed me one before settling beside me, also resting against the headboard. We stared into the distance, sipping in silence, lost in our thoughts. I struggled to find the right words to say to him after everything he had just been through, feeling a tinge of shame that he had witnessed me unravel like that.

Earlier, when he had drifted into sleep, I had been standing near the balcony, relishing the quiet and the bitter taste of my cigarette. I didn't normally smoke out of necessity-but this was different. After everything I had endured and witnessed over the past week, I needed something to take the edge off. Nothing else seemed to quiet my mind, and desperation had taken hold. Rummaging through my drawers, I fished out an old bottle of whiskey. That should do the trick. I grabbed a water glass, poured myself a drink, and let my gaze settle on the man lying in my pink bed-the man I had almost lost.

-The Past-

Year 1890 - Hogwarts castle - the undercroft
;The after math in the undercroft;

Ominis had fought against his father while I clung to Sebastian, my tears a mixture of grief and despair. He was bleeding out in my arms, his life slipping away. I wasn't strong enough to lift him on my own. He needed help-fast. If I wanted to save him, I had to get him to the infirmary.

I looked up to call for assistance, only to see Mr. Gaunt disappearing into thin air as Ominis cast his final spell. He was gone... but for how long?

"Help! It's Sebastian! We need to get him to the nurse-now!" I shouted.

Ominis knelt beside me, but when I turned to Marvolo, I saw hesitation in his eyes. He stared at us with an unreadable expression.

"Are you going to help us or not?" I demanded, supporting Sebastian's head to keep it from lolling back.

"No," Marvolo said flatly.

My fear morphed into disgust in an instant. "What?! You're just going to let him die? He needs help! We help innocent people!"

"Sebastian isn't innocent. He's a beast-a madman. Look at what he did to you. Look at what he did to my father. He deserved this. We warned him to stay away, but he didn't listen. Now he has to pay for it," Marvolo said, his body taut with fury.

Ominis stood, brushing off his pants before facing him. "Marvolo, I need you to help us."

"He's not worth my time!" Marvolo growled.

Ominis's voice wavered with rage. "You owe me, after everything you've done. Just this once-help me save my brother, for Merlin's sake."

Marvolo scoffed, eyes darkening. "You're in no position to ask me for anything, Gaunt. You just fucked my girlfriend."

"You're the blind one here, Marvolo. I had no choice!" Ominis shot back.

"You did have a choice! If you had just stopped being a coward and stood up to Father, you could've done something! But instead, you let this moron live!" His voice was raw with fury.

Ominis let out a bitter chuckle before kneeling beside me again, wand in hand. "We can't count on him. If we work together, I'll cast a spell to help carry Sebastian."

I adjusted Sebastian's shoulders, gripping him tighter. "If you're not going to help, Marvolo, then leave! We're wasting time on your sorry ass!" I snapped.
