❝He was about to tell me something I wasn't ready to hear.❞

-The present-
Year 1898 - Lleida spain - House Delgado
;Angella followed her brother to the living room;
"Dime, ¿de qué se trata, Lorenzo? (Just tell me what this is about, Lorenzo?)" I asked for the third time.
Marvolo and I followed him through the house, unsure of where he was leading us. He hadn't said a word since interrupting us, offering no explanation for why he had barged in over something he found in the book. He simply moved with purpose, his silence pressing down on us like a weight.
We climbed the stairs toward the largest library in the house. Lorenzo pushed open the doors, stepping inside before shutting them behind us.
"¿Puedes decirnos de qué se trata? (Can you tell us now what this is about?)" I demanded, grabbing his wrist to stop him from walking further.
Lorenzo met my eyes for a moment before shaking me off. "¡Espera aquí! (Wait here!)" he ordered before making his way to the nearest bookcase.
His fingers ran along the spines of various books, as if searching for something specific. Finally, he pulled out a red book, flipped to the last page, and scanned the lines. Satisfied, he set it aside on the table before moving to another shelf. This time, he retrieved a black book, opening it in the middle and reading intently before stacking it on top of the red one. Without a word, he strode deeper into the library.
Marvolo and I exchanged uneasy glances, neither of us knowing what was going on, but we followed him anyway.
At the far end of the room, Lorenzo pulled out a third book—a deep purple one. He opened it at the front, his eyes flicking across the text until he found what he was looking for. Adding it to the stack, he turned to us.
"Hazte a un lado. (Step aside.)"
We did as he asked, watching as he carefully arranged the books on the floor in the shape of a triangle—the black book at the top, with the red and purple ones forming the base. He spaced them apart, leaving an empty space at the center.
"Entra. (Step in.)"
His voice was firm, leaving no room for questions. I hesitated before stepping into the center of the triangle, waiting for his next instructions.
Lorenzo retrieved a final book—a white one—from a nearby desk and handed it to me. "Toma tu varita y lee esto en voz alta. (Take your wand and read this out loud.)"
I took the book in both hands, frowning at the nearly blank page. There were only a few words written on it—it looked like a spell.
I glanced at Marvolo. "Can I borrow yours? Mine is downstairs."
He nodded but hesitated before handing it to me, turning to Lorenzo instead. "Is this safe for her?"
Lorenzo smirked.
Marvolo didn't look entirely convinced, but he gave me the wand anyway. Raising my left hand, I read aloud, "El último de los tres, es el que puede liberarlo. (The last one, of three, is the one who can set it free.)"
A soft white light shot from the wand, streaking down toward the wooden floor before vanishing.
"Now what?" I asked, frowning at Lorenzo in annoyance.
"Just wait," he said with a grin.
The floor suddenly shifted, wooden planks sliding back to reveal a descending pathway—stone steps leading into the unknown. Candles flickered to life, floating above the stairs, casting a warm, golden glow down the passage.
