Morning sickness

It took about an hour before the doctor arrived. Eva was still curled up on the couch when the man walked in. "Sweetheart, the doctor is here" Yu Shao said to Eva as she walked towards her. Feeling weak and tired, Eva struggled to sit up straight. "Good morning doctor".
"Good morning ma'am. How are you feeling?" The doctor asked. "She has been really weak since morning and she was also throwing up" Yu Shao answered instead. Being that the doctor was the same one that attended to her while she was in the hospital, the man chuckled before saying "She's pregnant. The morning sickness usually comes along with being pregnant ma'am". Yu Shao looked puzzled for a split second before a huge smile appeared on her face. "You're pregnant? Why didn't you tell me sweetheart? I was so worried". "I'm sorry I didn't say anything earlier. I just assumed it'd be better if Lee and I told you together" Eva  felt sorry that she made the woman so worried.

"It's okay then. I'm just happy that there's a little Eva or little Lee on the way. Is it possible to know the gender now?" Yu Shao faced the doctor with curiosity and mirth beaming in her eyes. "It would take some time before we are able to determine the gender" the doctor answered.
"Ohh.." Yu Shao uttered.
"But I do need to check up on her and the baby. So my coming here wasn't a waste" The doctor said.
"Oh yes!" Yu Shao concurred as she left the living room to give the doctor space to do his job.
After the doctor was done with the check up, Yu Shao joined them in the living room again. "Everything is fine right?". The doctor turned to Yu Shao who had a concerned expression and said "Yes, everything's fine but she's extremely weak and needs food. She probably threw up everything earlier right?" He asked and the woman nodded. "A good amount of food will do the job. Excuse me". The doctor was about to leave when Eva said "Thank you sir". The man smiled gently at her before making his way towards the door with Yu Shao by his side.

Eva weakly stood up from the couch and walked to the kitchen. Yu Shao who was back in the living room, heard gentle noises coming from the kitchen and rushed to see what brought about the noise. She saw Eva picking a frozen steak and greens from the fridge and she rushed towards her and in a millisecond, took the food items from Eva's hand. "What's wrong?" Eva asked Yu Shao with her blue eyes holding a questioning gaze. "You're weak. Go and rest. I'll make you something to eat myself" Yu Shao answered while moving towards the counter to place the things.
"Thank you so much but you've done enough already. I just want to do this myself this time" Eva retorted.
"Lee would be worked up that you're doing things in this state. If he knew before that you'd have the morning sickness I doubt he would have left for work. Let me handle it" Yu Shao was picking up a knife and she began cutting the greens while Eva on the other hand was thinking of what to say to make the woman change her mind. "Don't worry, just like the doctor said, you'd regain your strength after a good meal and then, I'd allow you make dinner. Lee would be back by dusk so you can cook for him" the woman said before Eva could even utter another word.
She sighed and gave up "Alright. Thank you very much. I'd be back" Eva said leaving the kitchen.

Eva went to Giovanni's room and knocked on the door. The young gentleman opened up immediately. "Mrs Ming! Do you need anything? I can get it right away" Earlier, he saw the doctor walk in and was curious to know why a doctor came to the house  but he didn't hover to hear the part the doctor mentioned Eva was pregnant. He assumed that maybe his boss' wife was sick. Eva smiled gently at Giovanni. Since the moment they met, he has been very kind and sweet towards her. She inwardly wished he would find his person one day. He needed to share that sweetness with someone who wasn't her. "Thank you Vanni." She called him by the nickname she gave him. "I just need you to drive me  somewhere. We won't take long". "Ohh okay Mrs Ming. I'll get the keys" Giovanni said as he turned back inside  his room to pick the keys that were in a drawer. Lee Ming had the original keys to all the cars they had but he gave the spare keys to Giovanni incase his wife, who did not know how to drive or Yu Shao needed to go somewhere.
