Family dinner

Night fell on City F and Lee Ming decided to take his in-laws out for dinner. While they were seated around a circular table, waiting for their meal to be brought, the interrogation began. "So Lee Ming, I noticed the name of this estate is Ming's residence. Do you happen to be related to it in any way?" Eva heard her father ask. Lee Ming gave a small smile as he turned his head to Eva's father. "Yes sir, my family owns the place" he admitted and Eva felt a weird feeling pool in her belly. The first time she came to Ming's residence, she wondered if truly Lee was related to the place in any way but at the same time she didn't want to think on it. He wasn't the only man in the world with the name "Ming" so she had never asked him. She felt a bit disappointed in herself that she didn't know. If her father had asked her, she was sure her answer would have been "I don't know" and maybe if he went to ask Lee afterward and he affirmed it, it would be a bit disappointing to her father and herself because her father would think she didn't really know the man she was married to if she simply didn't know the properties or stuffs he owned. "A good investment!" Mr Watson praised after hearing Lee Ming's answer. "So what else do you do son?" Another question came but this time, it was from Eva's mother. "I have a company, we focus on producing commodities and also rendering some services" he answered. Lee Ming's mind trailed back to when he wasn't exactly at peace with his father. ESCORP was already handed to Tae Ming, though he was the one who was supposed to head it. The initial plan was Lee Ming heads the ESCORP in City F while Tae Ming heads the company in Rome. But given that he wasn't on good terms with his father, the company was given to Tae Ming but now he was the president of ESCORP. He never asked his father why he suddenly changed his mind and asked him to take over from Tae Ming but he knew whatever the reason, it was in one way or the other tied to Eva. Finally, a woman that could get close to him and touch him and eventually fufil his father's wishes of wanting a grandchild or grandchildren. Sir Ming never understood why a woman couldn't get close to his son till Eva came. She was an exception. Little did anyone know that what Lee Ming faced before he met Eva was as a result of a decision in their past life. "That's nice" Mrs Watson said slightly nodding her head. They continued to ask him questions as they waited for their food to be brought but even after it was, the questions did stop.

It finally drifted from questions fired at Lee Ming to random conversations after they finished their meal. Lee Ming occasionally glanced at Eva's siblings who were also at the table for their approval. He looked into their eyes and each of them seemed to approve of him because of the look of admiration in their eyes. He knew the questions thrown at him was just a way of getting to know him and he didn't mind it. He perfectly excluded the part that he was a hybrid and there was someone after his life, practically also threatening Eva's life because she was his wife and whoever wanted him dead wouldn't mind taking Eva's life too. He only told the family what they needed to know. Ready to head back home, they all stood up from their seats and headed towards the restaurant doors. But before Lee could pass through, Mrs Watson called out to him making him leave Eva's side and walking towards his mother-in-law.  Lee Ming reached her and she said in a low tone "It seems you must really love my daughter to have her married quickly without inviting her family members" She sighed before continuing. "For a woman, her wedding day is a day she can and should not ever forget. I don't know how the wedding went down but she's supposed to have her family beside her that day, for support and to feel save". Lee Ming understood what Mrs Watson was trying to say and undoubtedly, a feeling of guilt hit him. He had married her quickly because Taeyang made it clear he had to do so as soon as possible because him being married will solve some issues. "I deeply apologize for not making arrangements for you all to come. It happened so fast, but I would make up for it". Mrs Watson gave him the "how do you intend to do that" look as she wondered what he could possibly do to change things. She only told him that to get it off her chest. She had wanted to watch her daughters walk down the aisle and she felt that feeling was stolen away from her that's why she opened up to Lee Ming in a subtle way. Obviously letting him know she wasn't entirely happy to know she wasn't at the wedding.
